in other order of words....

taking the dollar to 13.50 pesos, this 12pk of NEGRA MODELO, will drill a smaller hole in your pocket, only 9 USD for the best beer in MX.

And I did, I didn't feel like pushing it too high and spending a lot of time in the heat. They use the trick that you have to pay at the police station, but that is closed for the day, so they will take your license and then you pay tomorrow at the station, or, you pay now on the spot. No ticket no problem.

So, either pay, or go to the police station and see what happens there. If I had more time, I would have done that. For the rest, all is good in Mexico, no problems, only one day left

The whole pay at the police station thing is actually an anti-corruption measure the keeps the cash payments out of the hands of the Transitos (traffic cops). The station is just a place like a bank with tellers, where you go and pay and get your drivers license or registration back. This system works good for the people who live in the town and can run down and pay the fine some time in the next few days. The only reason they had you by the balls it that you were passing through and didn't want to hang around town to deal with it. In a tourist town like Acapulco I'm sure the transitos figured that out about travelers a long time ago.

The best thing to do in this situation is tell them you will pay on the spot but that you need a receipt. That way at least they wont be pocketing the cash. The last time they tried this on me, I asked for a receipt and they just let me go. I thought it was interesting that they were happy to try to steal cash from me for themselves but they would rather let me go then take the time to write out a ticket that the city would collect on.

Monterrey to Saltillo Road Update?

Hey guys,

What's the update on the libre and the cuota have they been repaired up to standard or is it still better to take the high plains road (57) from PN to Saltillo? I haven't been down there since the rains/floods.

Thanks,

Mike
