I can send you a map that will keep you from getting bored on that KLR once you get near the Puebla-Veracruz border.
I just met up with one round the world and two down to Patagonia travelers yesterday for lunch, all riding KLR's big miles and swear by them. We should trade, my F650twin for your KLR?! They have got me convinced.

With that said and done I wouldn't advise a first time person to leave the USA without a passport, but it's reassuring to know that you won't necessarily get stuck at the border if you forget your passport.
Very true. But if you don't have the passport it just gives them one more excuse for them to mess with you if they want to. I don't like giving them any more reason to mess with me than I have to. The amount of info they have at their fingertips is scary.

No, it still isn't safe to talk about bikes on this thread so we will stick to your area of expertise.
How did the panning turn out at that creek? Feel free to forward the GPS coordinates LOL!
Here is the latest on what is happening up the road. Those are some very interesting numbers
they are pushing around.

Below we have photographic proof of a way beyond decent mole. This is Stephen's and Yecenia's superb mole en hogar.

I would bicycle back to Durango for more of this

Security on the Sand in Mexico

The boogey man isn't looking for you on the beach in Mexico.

But you can look for him from the balcony of your hotel room at the Playa Mazatlán.

Anyone wanting to ride along this is the plan: Gas-pee-gas-pee. oh and some tacos on the road

Hey, I wanna go. Count me in...

well.... maybe I'm not quite ready yet.

Maybe I should pass unless I want to ride a unicycle. Or my harley.

Question

I hardly read books 366 pages long. Is there there a cliff notes summary version of this thread?

Everything you need to know is contained in post #1.

The rest is clubhouse banter interspersed with the occasional news update and commentary.

Thanks. I'll go back and read post one. Just skipped it today since I've tried reading this thread in the past.
