"illegally parked" now that is subjective. Thanks to Jimmex for cooling it with the heat. We were just going to grab a handful of fried bugs and a shot of Mezcal or two and the time seemed to get away from us. We got through the day without getting in trouble. Heading to Escondido in the a.m. All is good.

This was last year. Is this still true boys and girls?

I paid for my room in Nuevo Laredo a few weeks ago in dollar$. (In many border towns it's hardly worth changing currency although I usually carry some peso$ just in case the exchange rate is lousy).

Yeah, but that Hotel is awesome

Walk in and you can snag a room for about $50us to $70us depending on the time of the year and the type of room.

You made me look back at my old pictures

I can't wait to go back!

Just had a wonderful dinner of black bass from Lake Atitlan here in Panajachel, Guatemala. Left in the rain from San Cristobal but nice in Guatemala. Border crossing fairly easy.

Antigua tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks. Hard for me to believe I was able to take both photos (with an IPhone no less, so I could post via wi-fi & Tapatalk) on the same day in two different Guatemala cities.

Can anyone guess how many times we have been stopped and inspected between San Antiono (TX) and Antigua, Guatemala by either Army or police checkpoints?

(Spoiler below)

Zero

Does this include 'drive thru' checkpoints?

Antigua & Guatemala are beautiful places. ... Oh, and did any Mexicans tell you Guatemala is dangerous?

More pics! Take pity on those of us working stiffs tethered to the office pitifully living vicariously through you guys. Heck, I'm getting ready to head to the office in a couple of hours on a Sunday.
