Keep our friends in/south of Puerto Vallarta in your prayers. the weather over there is going to be bumpy.

Arte, good one! Hay una Normandie en la ruta entre Xalapa y Perote.

Trice, yes, that would be the reaction LOL!

Should be interesting to see what they are going to get up to today.

Are they looking for me yet?

When I returned from Mexico I made a couple of wrong turns and ended up going through the TJ crossing. It wasn't all that bad being on a Friday but it still took a fair amount of time as expected. When I finally arrived at the exit I asked the BP guy about turning in the paperwork for the bike and he was clueless, asked if it was the Mexicans or the Americans who issued the docs. I told him it was a Mexican thing for "importing" the bike and he pointed at the back of the line - somewhere way the hell off in the distance and said "You should go back and deal with the Mexicans." No way in hell did I want to do that line thing again so now I suppose I'm an international criminal, right?

If I understand this correctly I won't be able to ride the Ninja back to Mexico again? At least the docs are colorful.

You won't be able to return to Mexico with any motor vehicle until your current TVIP is cancelled out.

He probably wants to take care of that before he returns. Can't a Mexican consulate cancel those through the mail? Modest fine imposed, of course.

Search out the nearest Mexican Consulate. I've heard yes and I've heard no. If you do ever intend to go back you need to clear this up.

Such a concept would completely defeat the purpose of the TVIP, the cancelation of which in person along with the bike serves to physically prove that bike is no longer in Mexico

There is no penalty imposed if the owner returns to the border and cancels the bike if there is still time left on the TVIP valid period. In fact, many riders who plan to return (I am one of those) frequently do not cancel TVIPs upon exit but "save" them for a nearer term future trip downrange.

Yeah, he's got a problem. I complain that it takes me a day and a half.
