My favorite Mexican movie of all time.
1962, it played for close to 24 months straight in some European cinemas (like in France and Italy).
A beloved classic.
An inspiration for all who truly love Mexico!

A la chingada con Laura Leon cuando tienes Lorena Velazquez en la pelicula.
Viva las mujeres del Santo! Viva!

Mexico is not safe!

The moment you cross the border you'll be fighting to stay alive!

Think of what can happen when you ride with strangers!

That's like putting a picture of Eric Estrada and that other guero CHiP guy as an avatar.

Yeah, yeah, everybody knows A Toda Maquina.

Interesting flick, but really, c'mon, admit it, seeing something like this on the silver screen beat the bejeezus out of two guys wanting to become motorcycle cops.

If I wanted to see an old guy with a moustache riding a Harley, I'd go riding with Schizz.

I caught up with the remnants of the Sonora Rally in Baviacora this morning. I talked with Jorge, a Dr. from Hermosillo on an RT and my old friend Guillermo on his RS. I run into Guillermo everywhere, last time in Alamos.

Jorge and Guillermo are members of the Sonoran Riders

These are some of the Zancudos Riders. (Mosquitoes) Sorry for the bad exposure, bugs on the goPro also a problem. Great group, sorry I couldn't be there last night. They had 300 riders come in.

They gave me a shirt and a pin for showing up.

On another note, thinking about riding down to Paracho and shipping a guitar back, a Francisco Navarro negra. Anybody got experience with shipping goods back into the US? Otherwise I'll just take the bus down and back.

I have also offered to meet riders at the border in Bisbee or Douglas, get the paperwork done and escort them to my hotel for an overnight before they head out. I like having motorcyclists here and I want to improve tourism in the entire region. It's a "twist my arm" type of offer.
Hey Tom

How are you doing? Man I would love to get down there for this 3 days of riding and could use help in learning a little more about my go pro. I am going to be in Phoenix for a week from the 12 to 19th. My bike is up here in Canada but who knows maybe I can get someone to ship it down to Phoenix then I can ride down from there to Sonora. Had a great time visiting you guys at your hotel in March. If any riders are heading that way be sure to visit Tom and his wife Lynn. A great little hotel and Tom plays a good guitar and harmonica for your entertainment.

Hey Brian,

Great to hear from you. PHX is only 7 hours for mortals, you can do it in 5. We would love to see you again. I'll work on my Blaze Foley tunes.

Recommend boarding the ferry at Los Ebanos from the Texas side as the Mexican side gets deeply rutted and slick. The Texas side is rocky dirt that seems better maintained making it easier to ride onto the ferry. Especially on 900lb Harleys.

I wouldn't spend any time sight-seeing around Ciudad Gustavo Diaz Ordiz, either.

Hi all,

Just to add my tuppence worth to the debate.. (apologies to deviate from the subject of films! )

We are currently riding all around the Americas on a 1979 r100rs. We rode across the border through Tijuana last week.

So far... Everyone has been so friendly and can't do enough to help us. We attempted some dirt tracks, but riding two up on a heavily laden road bike with road tires probably wasn't the best idea... Inevitably we got a puncture, it wasn't long before all sorts of people were offering to help.*

One particular truck full of mean looking futher muckers pulled up and I thought this is it... Game over... I had the tire lever in my hand ready just in case... After a brief conversation in my shaky Spanish, they all started laughing, reached into the back of their truck and pulled out two ice cold cans of Modelo beer for us!*

The next day, our battery had died... My fault for not checking the fluids. Anyway, some police pulled over to help us..they didn't have any jump leads on them so drove off to find some and came back minutes later to help get us started. When I tried giving them some pesos in return they just patted me on the back and said "no Gracias amigo".. So much for them all being on the take.

We cross over to Mazatlan tomorrow so it could all change, but for now, my response to the question: is Mexico safe? Is an unresounding *yes.

bicimaps just sent me an update

Mexico GPS Atlas 2013 is here.

This new version provides a response to some features being asked by a large
amount of our customers who use the map for outdoor activities such as 4x4,
motorcycling, hiking and other outdoor activities, who have asked to
increase the detail of the contour lines in order to have a better idea of
the shape of the land, as well as adding more natural points of interest to
help in off road navigation.

We have listened and developed the information our customers look for and
added it to this release. Major changes are:

• Added 20 meter (60 feet) contours for the full country
• Added a full new hydrology data set. Now the river outlines have a
very high precision and we increased the coverage in all the country.
• About 550,000 new points of interest of which 200,000 are natural ones
to support better off road navigation.
• The remainder 350,000 are increased urban POIs throughout the
country, so we now have over one million three hundred thousand POIs .
• Added street detail for 1000 cities.

With these new features and contents, this is the only full topographic and
routable GPS map available for Mexico.

Central America Integration

As a new feature, we have seamlessly integrated our Central America map, so
now travelers to that region may plan their routes and travels, fully
integrated with de Mexico map data. In Central America we also added 20
meter (60 feet) contours, allowing for a better interpretation of the land
shape for outdoor activities.

The most complete and versatile map Mexico and Central America is now at
your fingertips.
Due to the high amount of new data we are adding, the map size increased to
just over 1.5 Gb from the approximate 600 Mb that the 2012 version had.
As a customer of one of our previous versions, you may purchase this upgrade
for just $ 79.00 USD and you may get it from our webpage
