Easy peasy! Now having lunch on the beautiful town square at Magdalena de Kino, a couple of hours from the border. Paperwork for the bike took less than an hour, and I already had the tourist visa from Baja.
I guy in a truck just stopped and yelled something about a bike club in town, and he's going to send a couple of guys around. Could be interesting!

Bikes picked up by the military
Just returned from Mexico this week and had a very unusual experience with the Mexican Army.
Rather than repeat it here, if interested, you can read about it in my ride report.

Cool report Road dust.
Yes, the military guys (kids with HKs) can be good guys. They sometimes ask how fast my bike goes and I say "Docientos" and point to my speedo. They then call their buddys over and tell them that el gringo es loco. When ADVer Hewby was through here on her trip south, we did a shake down ride after the repairs to her bike. Coming through the punta revision at Mazocahui, the guy asked where we were from. I said Banamichi and said that Deb was from Tasmania. He looked puzzled so I told him the island south of Australia. Then he saw her small stuffed "Taz" the Tasmanian devil stuffed animal in her windshield. He got a big smile on his face and spun his finger around just like cartoon Taz before sending us on our way. It was a low stress stop for all of us. I've never had a bad experience with the military in Mexico. They seem treat gringos with deference and respect. No difference on the bike or in the Suburban. It does get me a bit worked up when they crank on their fellow countrymen but maybe they know something I don't.

Its their fellow countrymen (of the criminal sort) that make their jobs difficult. We are just a curious and pleasant diversion for them.

Sometimes I see them take apart an older couple in a farm truck. Of course they may be unwillingly moving contraband but it seems somehow unnecessary to hassle these people.

PV to Guat Border
I know that some of you have just been worried sick about the AK Smitty TVIP saga. I am here to report in that I crossed to Guatemala today. With hours to spare on the expiration of the TVIP!!!
![]() Met a cool Mexican dude named Julio on an ST and rode with him for 2 of the 3 days. Lots of high speed toll roads for the first 2 days and almost all were 1/2 price from PV to Tuxtlan G. I wont say I had a great time doing but there were far more good times than bad. I don't like winding out the 800 mile after mile at 90 plus but I need to test the bike in all aspects! ![]() Thanks to all you that added positive input and especially Sjoed Bakker for the detailed route input. I am only 3 days behind on the RR now too. I almost have my sh*# together. Nothing but good people and experiences to report on this most recent ride through Mexico.

Brisket & Navajo
Brisket is a cut of meat from the breast or lower chest of beef or veal. The beef brisket is one of the nine beef prime cuts. The brisket muscles include the superficial and deep pectorals. As cattle do not have collar bones, these muscles support about 60% of the body weight of standing/moving cattle. This requires a significant amount of connective tissue, so the resulting meat must be cooked correctly to tenderize the connective tissue.
Y You can get fresh brisket at any good market. I would not trust it at Wally World. The Navajo are not Mexican or in any way related to the Mexicans (though we might get into a dialogue about the Athabascan diaspora) so kantuckid's comment is a bit mystifying. I have to say that in my four years of living on the Rez I never saw such a collection of lovelies. The Rez is a 25,000 square mile ghetto stuck in the middle of one of the most mineral wealthy parts of the US of A. Poor diet and lack of exercise take their toll in the hills of Kentucky just as they do on the Rez ...the after forty comment was gratuitous... The "dominant culture's" ways have not been kind to the "native" or "first nations" people's. What does this have to do with "is Mexico Safe". Damifino. I didn't bring it up. I do know that to get to Mexico from where I live I have to ride across the land of at least three distinct tribes and that it takes the better part of a day. The third world does not start at the Southern international border. rockymountainoyster screwed with this post 11-30-2012 at 01:52 AM Reason: Spelling |

Willie Nelson/They All Went to Mexico
Where's my pal, where's my friend? All good things must have an end Sad things and nothing's on and on they go I guess he went to Mexico They all went to Mexico Buenas dias got to go Tengo que obedecer mi corazon They all went to Mexico Where's my mule and where's my dray? Straw hat's packed up and gone away Mule don't go north and dray go slow They both went to Mexico Where's my sweetie, where's the face That lit dark corners every place? She put up with me long time you know And then she had to go to Mexico They all went to Mexico Buenas dias got to go Tengo que obedecer mi corazon They all went to Mexico Where's my brown dog, where's my hound? He liked my truck, he hung around But he's a canine romeo And I guess he went to Mexico Where's that woman, so sweet so mean? Her heart was cautious, her mind was keen She was always looking for the peccadillo I hope she went to Mexico They all went to Mexico Buenas dias got to go Tengo que obedecer mi corazon They all went to Mexico Where's December's happy crew With German bikes and sidecars too? They take the truck south to St. Louis Motorcycle all the way to Mexico Where's my luck and where's my grace? Has it all been just a foolish chase? Every time I hear that rainy chill wind blow I think it might be time to head to Mexico They all went to Mexico Buenas dias got to go Tengo que obedecer mi corazon They all went to Mexico They all went to Mexico Buenas dias got to go Tengo que obedecer mi corazon They all went to Mexico |
