Might you be interested in a home stay with a Mexican family? I used to take students there for a study abroad program, and the lady I stayed with receives travelers, students for short and longer terms stays. She charges of course, but will include meals if desired. Very nice location in the colonial center and the experience can be much more rewarding than a hotel stay...and probably cheaper unless you go budget in SMA.
Go to: http://advrider.com/forums/showthrea...atemala&page=4 and view photos from post #48 and 56 to see the family and the inner courtyard. |

I noticed on another thread that I was following that someone hit a dog in Mexico. No reports as to whether the bad canine was a cartel member or not.

More Shameless Self Promotion
Spanish immersion classes will be held here in Banamichi March 10 through 16. We are not running the class but our little hotel will be the HQ location.
Check here for details. It is just 135 miles south of Bisbee, AZ. Transport from Bisbee/Naco is included in the pkg. Saludos

Turkey, good stuff that you are offering!
Always remind the students that they are not just learning a language but they are learning a culture, as well. ![]() Hope you get a full house for those classes. |

Hi Bob, I have not spend much time in SMA but the one time I was there I stayed at the Posada de Las Monjas. It is a good place. It was recommended to me on ADV and I think a lot of riders stay there. Are you going to come visit me again?

Direction
Can someone point me in the right direction for a beautiful safe route through Mexico? Maybe some must sees, perhaps a few rr''s? I was going to comb through all 800+ pages in this thread but thought asking may be more efficient. I'm just starting to do some research and planning for a trip to South America from the states.

Depends on where you want to go in Mexico and what you think you want to see. It is a large, magnificent, diverse country, so one answer just wouldn't do it. You really ought to work your way through some of this thread and also look at the Ride Reports thread.

Thanks MikeMike. We are just the hosts for the class, not the sponsors. We did have some input into the no-class room stuff. There will be quite a few interactive class assignments involving the locals from going to the market to buy certain items, visiting the city hall and interacting with the local kids.
