We considered the cave of the swallows, but there is so much to see. Mexico has a better tourism system than I expected. Lots of regional brochures and signs, maps etc. There's all kinds of places to go check out.
This trip is really delivering! Amazing riding in the day, great scenery, good food and culture in the afternoons and evenings.

OK I am a fan of microbreweries and I'll review the joint in a couple of weeks. As long as there isn't a Budweiser within 1000 miles I'm on it.

Ahem.

For all the claimed riding around Mexico in this thread recently, I'm seeing a distinct lack of ride reports for my perusal.

Go early to the sotano, a little past dawn, to see the swallows exit on their flight to the coast.

Maybe you should look in the Ride Reports thread.

I hereby nominate Trice to develop an all encompassing TVIP thread, excruciatingly detailing everything needed to import and insure a vehicle or three in Mexico. I know he's tried before, but it just gets buried in the thread that is Is Mexico Safe.

We can then petition the mods to stickify it.

Of course, after he finishes his big ride report.

All in favor

That's why Appendix C to Post #2 to the IMS thread talks to TVIPs

Now we just need to figure out a way to force people to actually read it.

Electroshock through the mouse?

People come onto ADV all the time and post questions without doing due diligence in researching what they want to know.

The search protocol "site:advrider.com hotels in Zacatecas" [example] is rarely used. Even a general Google search often gives as-good results, but that too is apparently not pursued. Finally, many fine folk simply want to step to the mike and have their instant results/ personal attention.

It will be like this as long as advrider is around. It's all good. Gives us something to do.

You couldn't possibly make 5000 plus posts about your trips to Mexico... but your witty come backs and dialogue sure bumps the count.

What's a TPIV?

In fairness, most folks don't know about doing more elaborate and site specific searches.

That, and understandably many like to start a conversation just to see if there is some specific nuance or quirk that they need to know about. Like that limit on 20 purple Dodges crossing at Nogales on Tuesdays.

TurkeyCreek has a group of riders heading over to Baja from Sonora.

They are in the Guaymas San Carlos area at the moment but have run into some mechanical issues.

One of the guys is on a BMW R1150RT.

His bike was sputtering so they pulled over to get gas, now that they have has the bike won't run at all.

Somehow they're thinking that a fuse might have blown, but I'm not sure where they're getting this from.

Is there anyone in the area who can point them to someplace to get the bike looked at?

They're heading over on the ferry in the morning to Santa Rosalia and are prepared to push the bike on and off the ferry and take their chances with finding a fix on the peninsula.
