The 67216 zip code in Wichita is to be avoided: Oaklawn

Wink Vados

Vados: Washed out low spots in the road that turn to sand washes or gravel beds when the rains turn the low spots to creeks or rivers, depending on how much rain floods through. No problema if the water's not running too deeply or too quickly. Get your buddy to ride in and test those if you don't like him much. And have your camera ready.

My only strict "area rule" is I avoid Mex 2 along it's length, day or night. That's just personal, others may ride it like the wind, I have no idea.

Well, we did not make Montemorelos but we did make it off that mountain. Holy Shit, Batman. We are not very smart. Made Zaragoza at 7:04. Still light but barely. Idiots. Idiots that can't tell time or read a map.

Mexico is certainly not safe for idiots.

Note to self. Bring one sane person on every trip.

Edit: Terrapinneck said that he had decided that "when" he crashed on the mountain he was just gonna light his bike on fire. hey. He had a plan. Maybe not a great plan...but a plan.

But...
my new used Garmin Zumo altimeter is working great. So glad I brought it. No pics of today but I will check with the boys.

Ooh. I have one. Canon de Pinhuan.

Pics don't do it justice and the little secondary road is much fun.

Oh. In case y'all were wondering, this is the svelte, lithe, nimble weapon I am sporting for mountain dualsport riding. I swear. Idiot.

That seems to be a near-universal lesson for noobish México riders and one that experienced riders revisit from time to time.

It can be difficult for the experienced rider to understand how much of that experience does not translate to riding México.

Yup. Miles on a map don't mean shit down here. On the flat The Big Ugly can fly. I don't care how rough it is. Switchbacks? Rough switchbacks? Holy crap. If I could have made urine I would have pissed myself a hundred times.
