Send a thank you note to the US Gvt for putting ethanol in your fuel. The smart Mexicans don't waste ethanol by mixing it with gasoline.
Motohank isn't going to do Donnie much good in Guatemala; unfortunately.

Donnie, I think you really need a metal cased filter.

You can hear it come on when the key is turned on, but it acts like it is not getting fuel. One problem that has been found during the past few days is that the screen before the fuel pump has come apart and the red lining that BMW put inside the tank is flacking off and stopping up the screen from the inside. Is there alternative fuel pumps for this moto. I am in San Juan Ostuncalco, Guatemala. Thanks!

Donnie
Donnie, does your bike still run? How did you find out the primary filter has come apart? Did you remove the pump assembly from the tank?

If the bike runs just ride it to GT City BMW. You won't hurt anything the secondary filter will keep stuff from the injectors and any damage to the pump is already done.

If you get something other then the big $$$ BMW pump you will have to solder on different connectors. Not difficult but a little finnicky

I would consider changing the pump filter sock and the secondary meatl can filter and leave the pump.

He's willing to try to help riders diagnose problems and/or suggest solutions.

That he can do from Texas for any rider who can get to a phone or send an email.

In that sense, he just might be able to give Donnie some assistance.

Just read this report on CNN that econimist Dr. Bernard Wienstien states:
“American companies are bringing back production from overseas, and that’s also helping Mexico because a lot of investment that might otherwise have gone to Asia is going to Mexico,” Weinstein said.

Probably good advice.

JD was feeling seriously puny after our first day. Started having fever and chills so instead of riding with us day two as planned he stayed in El Naranjo to recover while we motored on south. We are now in Tolantango. Our only problem is a seeming inability to tell time. Hasn't killed us yet. But today was close. ;)

Starting to feel normal again. A modular helmet is so important when riding sick. Leaving Saltillo for Austin shortly. Will swing by Casa Tricepilot enroute.

Last Friday we left Casa WeazyBuddha for El Naranjo. Took the bypasses around San Fernando and Cd. Vic. Muy tranquilo. The dirt route south from Juamave was beautiful.

Yesterday I took 80 from El Naranjo then 57 to Saltillo. Encountered a traffic fatality on a curvy section of 80. Very sad. PFP asked me to slow down. Numerous military convoys heading south on 57. Seems like I'm seeing greater military presence since Peña Nieto took office.

Will post pix later.
