Streets and Trips Routes into 276C
Has anyone figured out how to download routes from Microsoft Streets and Trips 2010 to a Garmin 276C. The documentation claims it can do that. It requires installing a plug-in from Garmin, which I did. When I attempt it, it does download to the GPS, but only the Waypoints get downloaded NOT the route.
I saw the other post about exporting GPX files and loading them into Map Source, but I was hoping to do it in one step.

I did some more research on other boards, and I got convinced that S&T will only send waypoints, NOT a route. Therefore, the S&T to GPX to MapSource (where you generate a route from the waypoints) to the GPS looks like the only way.
My trip planner, Eyes Shut, likes S&T much better for planning trips than Map Source, so it looks like I will just do the translations. It wouldn't be so irritating if S&T didn't claim to download routes to a GPS.

My ST2010 gpx conversion/export has a route. Needs to be recalculated obviously as the mapsets are different but no problem. Route looks good but will break into day routes.
If you want waypoints separate from those in the route identify them as pushpins in Street and Trips. BYW I pulled up some old Mapsource tour files with planned routes and actual tracks and they imported into S&T. Can not do much with the tracks in S&T but they are there. |
