These guys. http://advrider.com/forums/showthrea...uturevisionhid

I've had DDM kits before- they're cheaper, but more components to hide. The futurevisionhid has only the slim ballast and one standard size relay. I got it all to fit in the headlight bucket. It took awhile, but it all fits.

Could you post a night shot of the beam pattern when you get a chance?

That's the Canadian MSRP. In the States, it's still $13,999 per the website

I didn't see that. I got the other number from an article I read.

Thanks but more questions...

Does it still give a good sharp cutoff that you can adjust to not dazzle oncoming traffic?
How well does the high beam work?
How would you rate the improvement overall?

I'm nervous about a retrofit bulb. The futurevisionhid thread even starts with pointing out the perils of using an HID bulb with a halogen reflector design. I credit them for being upfront about that.

I'll have to get some better photos at night and see how the cutoff works.

High beam is out- solenoid is stuck. I'll have to get with futurevision about that.

Improvement is huge over stock.

I don't mind dazzling traffic with a reflector headlight- on a motorcycle. I would never do it to a car without projectors. I want to be SEEN- even during the daytime.

When is soon? I'm hearing may. I have one on order and haven't heard anything from the dealer yet.

Soon

Sometimes dealers only get a few days notice that a bike shipment is inbound and they don't all show up at the same time. I'm new to KTM but based on what I've heard so far, the street orders are placed at the first of the year and they arrive in the spring. I'm sure it varies some depending on your dealer's location. Our RC8 and Adventure models started showing up last week; stands to reason the SMTs are not far behind. The anticipation is almost unbearable!!!

Everyone I called said they are only getting 2. and said May is what the shippment papers said. No telling when they will actually arrive.
Umbearable!!!!! is an understatement. been looking at SMT's for over a year now, and placed an order in late Jan. I wish they would hurry.

2012 SMT delivery

Been calling every KTM dealer on the east coast of the US. Finally got a better answer then "its coming" Found out All KTM bikes have been held up by customs. Most 2012 models have been passed through because they were in port first. SMT's are still at port and are waiting for customs inspections. I was also told Customs have changed their rules for Australia thats what taking so long.
Not sure how true this is, but it kinda makes sense. So whenever they inspect we can expect them to ship to dealers.
