After my fairing falling off three times I just took it all off and swapped it for the naked K100 bodywork. Solved.

And then the front right frame downtube snapped, but that's another story. And 3 outfits ago.

Thanks Al. I'll only be using the top fairing, so I'll have a look at the lower mounts for that. The top fairing had a broken lug when I bought the bike so I guessed there were a few issues

"Victorians just good people" Bbbbbwwwwhhhhaaaahhhaaa. Thanks Neil I needed a good laugh
Victoria, the only place in the world where their local river flows upside down (The Yarra).

If you weren't Australians we would probably have a civil war with you mob.

Still it could be worse, you could be a Queenslander (oops now I've upset a few people) and before you lynch me I lived there for 7 years back in the late 70's, early 80's so I know what I'm talking about although the people weren't bad it was just the Gestapo oops I mean the police force that were the major problem. Good old Joh and his cronies. You think riding a bike is tough these days, try being a bike rider in QLD back in those days. Lets just say I was on first name terms with the Gestapo, I mean police. Marvelous how little bruising you get when a phone book comes between you and a rubber truncheon, still hurts like hell but.

Now that I've got that off my chest (and to the Queenslanders, when you see me at a rally I'm the one with a Red k1100 with the new chair and my first name rhymes with steel ) Nah just kidding.

Now Neil (steel) where was I, oh thats right, looking very nice but will you stop pinching my ideas, sheesh.

Also what Al said

Anyway it's a public holiday here in Adelaide today so I'm off out to the shed to do some work on MY sidecar.

Hey Alex, we really must meet one day.

Why? well, I was born in QLD, live in Vic and am an ex Vic Gestapo member.

So, what rallies will you be at next? hmmmm?

See the bracket with the 4 holes that bolt to the headstem, you need to brace that up as much as you can. If you put 2 straps around it that should do. From memory mine completely tore away where the tube meets the bracket with the 4 holes.

Hope that makes sense.

Ok Alex. Had another go at it cos I'm still worried about you drinking my beer

Good one Neil. That should fix it. I'm still going to drink your Wild Turkey anyway . You can keep your wine. That's a girls drink.

TD, so you DO accept bribes then. Still you did say EX therefore you must have seen the light. Shit I just thought of something, what if I've met you before but not in a happy sort of way.

I'm a good boy now, seriously, just ask Snayle.

Well, I'm down to the last few bits of fabrication, and then the paintwork starts.

I couldn't get a piece of aluminium tube that was big enough, so I made a square tube for tent poles/fishing rod.

Frame for a radiator guard.

Aluminium mesh rapped around the frame.

Sidecar brake pedal and cylinder.

Disc caliper.

Took the sidecar off the bike, removed the swing arm, cleaned up all the welds, and today it went to the painters.

I'll be taking all the plastic off the bike and that will be getting painted too. Had a dozen changes of mind about the colour (the sidecar frame will be black) and still haven't decided All in all, it's been frustrating (eh Dave? ) mainly through situations that were beyond my control, and a couple of times I've felt like just giving up and going riding But now it's at this stage, I'm getting keen to finish it. Once the paintwork is done, it all has to be assembled, and I still have to fabricate the front storage box, and then it has to be wired.
So I'll get back to this then. Thanks to everyone that's helped with information, advice, and smart assed remarks (Hi Alex )
Thanks to Phyllis especially. Without his work and advice, I'd still be at the planning stage

Bit ambitious, Stevie! 2 months!

I know where you're coming from, though.

Also, note how none of the Victorians wanted to admit they are known as mexicans.
Tasmanians are all called 'brother', regardless of gender. (It's alright, I would love to move to Taswegia, next week if it was possible)

And we, in New South Wales, are known as cockroaches. (that's what the highway patrol are know as too - always into the sugar and biscuits.)

Back on thread.

Post more pics, and get the bloody thing mobile. We want a ride report - with some video too.
