Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope you are having a great time with your families, watching football, and, of course, drinking!

Took advantage of the nice weather today. A1fa and I departed around 11:00 this morning and headed west. Most of the highways were free of traffic. In a short while we were in the national forest.
![]() By now it was noon, and all the hunters were at their campsites and not in the woods. Somehow I felt safer thinking there would be fewer stray bullets in the air.... We enjoyed some beautiful scenery, as the sun rays pierced through the woods. The shadows on the gravel road had a hypnosis effect on me, as we sped along at 60+ mph. It was hard to tell where the bumps and potholes were. Off in the distance we saw the rocky peak that Vlad posted about a couple weeks ago. We decided to ride over and do some rock climbing. We rode as far up the mountain as we could... The road got pretty rough. ![]() I am not too good with hieghts, and having slick soled riding boots on, didn't make it any better. Here are a few pics from the climb. ![]() ![]() ![]() inside the cave ![]() ![]() The view was worth the climb though.. ![]() Climbing down was a bit harder than climbing up. ![]() After the hiking we headed west to Highway 7. No traffic at all, made the corners from Hollis to Ola a lot of fun to play on. Rounding the next to last curve coming up the west summit of Petit Jean Mountain, we came up on a big guy on a chopper... When I saw the Santa Clause pants, I knew in a flash it must be St. Nick (Dragon43) ![]() We made our way to Petit Jean for a late lunch at Mather Lodge. ![]() The waitress told us that Tuesday will be the last day for the restaurant. They are going to tear it down and build a bigger better one. After lunch it was getting close to 3:00pm and starting to cool down. I was ready to be home.... So we picked up the pace on the way home... Running on both sides of 100 we were back to my house for a cold beer in just a matter of minutes.. I am amazed at how well the 690 handles woods trails, and yet romps at over 100 very stable in the corners on the highway. Good way to spend a saturday afternoon.

![]() Princess on top of the fire tower hill: ![]() ![]() Duane and I hiked on top of the tooth mountain. I took several photos of rocks, mostly at an odd angle as I was holding on for my dear life. Artsy photos on top of the tooth mountain. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fast forward to yesterday. Bill and I revisited the same spot. This time I brought PIG ROAST with me. She handled the hump, and the tough road just fine. ![]() If you look hard enough, you will see Bill in there: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There is a very beautiful waterfall that runs down this mountain on the North/East??? end. I'd like to hike around the mountain next time to check it out. Who's in? |

Nice shot, Vlad. Last time I was up there, with my family, I was getting some really good echoes from that little ridge across the valley. I even got some hunter to start yelling back at us.

Great ride reports and pictures fellas! You guys are a bunch of mountain climbing maniacs. I will leave that up to the young with lots of energy. I rode for a few hours yesterday up Missouri way up near Sulphur Springs then thru Jane heading east and slabbed it back about 4:00 PM to get home before dark. Didn't take but a few pics of the dirt road that goes under Hwy 71 South of Jane. I was glad to see the Indian Creek and the Big Sugar were running pretty good. The Elk River seemed fairly high. Crossed a low water bridge on the Indian Creek with about 6-8 inches of water running pretty good. No problem but I could feel the pressure of the water against the front wheel. Was a good day to be out. Had to get my riding fix for the week.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Good to see guys out riding. If the weather stays this good we might have to get one more camping trip before years end. All for now.
