On that bike looks like fun, on my DR650 it would be a nasy fall if I didn't make it, and probably expensive too.

( I posted this also in the BS thread)

well ladies..we got a very late start this afternoon..did not go to Oark..rain clouds were movin in so we decided to go to Kingston for lunch/dinner...left at almost 3pm..got to the diner at abt 5pm.

We had four of us in our litte group..so before we left, "RIDERS MEETING!" You know the routine, We gonna "leap Frog it"..each rider is responsible for the rider behind him, except for the sweep rider, he don't have to babysit anyone! Man riding point stops at the next intersection until the rider behind him arrives. He in turn WAITS for the rider behind him to arrive and so on..this shows EVERYONE which way to go and it spaces everyone out so as not to be eating too much dust.

So we take off. Right off the batt, we lose a "froggy". Someone did not stop and wait for the rider behind him so a quick loop search turns up our lost little froggy. Again ANOTHER RIDERS MEETING! Ok, everyone understands now, or so we thought. Two more turns and a stop at hwy 23, only three of us show up. Have no idea where our other lost little froggy is...another quick loop run to look for him. This time, he did EXACTLY what he was suppose to do. Since the rider in front of him did not stop to wait, this rider proceeded on to the next intersection finding no one there, so he then went back to the last known intersection and waited. It paid off as thats where I found him. We laff a little and take off to meet up with the other "little froggies" on hwy 23...seems a 'miscommunication'? Rider who didnt stop to wait for rider behind him, thought that the rider behind him knew the way. WRONG! So again, ANOTHER RIDERS MEETING on the side of the road.

This time it works! Just like clock work, all the riders stop and wait for the rider behind him. Much more enjoyable.

SO after eating, while in Kingston, it starts to rain. I reminded everyone that before we left mossycreeks, that no matter where we went, we was going to get wet. Thus is why we went to Kingston, much better to be wet and cold CLOSER to home than 2 counties away from home. Yep, we got wet, but on the bright side, the dust will be settled.

SO we head out of kingston, gettin rained on..dirt roads are primo for no dust and perfect traction! At abt 3 miles out from Kingston, no rain..lots of dust..oh well.

We make it to Huntsville, gas up, and head on back to Mossy Creek...the "leap Froggin" WORKED!! and we had a good ride....Mossycreek did have a near incident and I will let him tell it..and it will be related to Elvis!

So as I wrap this up, its 9pm and WAY past my bedtime..gn y'all

Well, I've got a ride lined up for tomorrow with ADV member vanpelt999, from Sherwood. We're gonna go out around Lake Sylvia and go from there. Will post pics when I get back.

BTW there is no warning and it is a 5 foot drop off the end. Little 4 wheeler trail to the right of the bridge takes you too a crossing. Elvis,
The 1st time I went to Mossy Creek with Kimberly she noticed the sign saying 'Bridge Out/Dead End". It was still there yesterday. Of course it's way up on a pole...... bout 7 feet...

Ahh, a drunk would never see that. I ride a DR much lower to the ground than that stallion you got must be why I missed it.

You know for the money you got in that XR650R you could of bought Razors 950SE. But then you would of had to start hanging out with the orange crush snobs. How loud is that pipe?

Seems all the aftermarket pipes are really loud and require repacking regularly which I refuse to do. Lot of DR guys are buying the GSXR 1000 titanium factory exhaust and mounting it on the DR. Keintech (DR specialist) sells a mid pipe and hangar kit for it. Supposed to be modestly louder but sound good, and never needs repacking. I am just to cheap and lazy, I use what Suzuki hung on it.

Winona Scenic ride

This morning I met up with inmate vanpelt999, Dan, to do some riding in our neck of the woods. The plan was to hit the dirt roads around Lake Sylvia and to try out any four wheeler trails that looked interesting. We met in Little Rock and then headed out to William's Junction for gas.

Here's Dan

Here's me

We headed down HWY 9 about three miles and then hung a right up in the Winona area. The first trail we tried led to some kind of backpackers' shelter, so we jetted outta there. The next trail led up a switchback that got pretty steep and rocky toward the top, but popped out onto one of the highest hills in the area.

Somebody had built a firepit and grill area up there, looked like a cool place to camp.

Then we had to go down. It was steeper than it appears.

Made it down that safely. All the other trails were a bust. There was one gated road that we would have liked to try, but there was a man standing there by it, so we kept on. Here we stopped for a break.

Later on, we were trying to find a certain road, never could do it, but we tried several trails that turned into singletrack, at which point we would turn around. Here we are on one where we had crossed a couple of big water holes and a stream.

A couple of the trails we tried were pretty steep and washed out, so it was an experience for me, to say the least. Eventually we headed back to William's Junction, where we had a snack and parted ways. We took a couple more pics here.

Before he took off, Dan said "That was fun, I needed that!" It's funny how going out in the woods and bashing over rocks can relieve stress, ain't it? It was another good day.

Yeah buddy, I had a blast too. Both those things sound like fun. But we should call the TAT the Trans Arkansas Trail.

Yesterday, my boy and I went riding/camping with dogjaw. We hooked up in Dover, with the plan to visit Haw Creek, ride Hwy 123, lunch in Jasper and then motor west to Oark.

Bret (dogjaw) just picked up a trick Honda 919 and I got admit, I was jealous when I pulled into the gas station. The 919 looks and sounds phenomenal.

Haw Creek Falls

This is my favorite pic of the weekend. Thanks Bret.

Photo op on 374, above Parthenon.

My boy got sleepy, just before we stopped and scared the daylights out of me... I keep saying, I'm gonna run a strap around him and tie him to my waist.

Ozark Cafe - Jasper, AR - Great place for lunch.

We left Jasper and ran 123. I didn't take any photos but Bret shot some video, that I'll edit/add, in the next few days.

We left Bret at Hwy 7 and continued down 123 to the Big Piney and turned west, cutting across to Hwy 21 and then on to Oark.

This crossing was deeper then it looked but we made just fine, 2-up and no stalls...

Onward to Oark.

We found a nice spot at Wolf Pen ($3 a night) and there was plenty of firewood. The place WAS pretty much empty, so we setup tents and then went for dinner.

The pie was great but the fish bites. The store keeper, allowed me to use their landline and phone home. This was great because neither of us had cell service.

We head back to camp and find out we have neighbors. No biggie, we light the fire and settle in for the evening.

After, a long night of barking dogs, bongos and wood chopping (neighbors), we pack up early.

The rain was beginning to fall in Oark, so we figured we'd head south and eat in Clarksville. After breakfast, we part ways with Bret and begin the deliberately slow (55mph) journey back to Sherwood. We stopped for a photo op with a crop dusting plane and some cookies for the sweet gals we had left at home. I thank the Lord for the opportunities he has provided.

Thanks for tagging along... nlp
