I shall return!!!

I love riding the AR/OK area - the Quachita Mtns, the Kiamichi Mtns, and now maybe I am looking forward to visiting the Poteau Mtns.

PM sent. - thanks for posting nice RR.

Glad you enjoyed the effort!

"Cool V-Man! Great report and pictures. You and BoHawk will have to team up some time, he likes it rough too."

Thanks 10Cup. Yes... I would LOVE to hook with BoHawk and do one of those "you show me yours and I'll show you mine" deals. Of course, I'm talking about the TRAILS you idiots.

TroyWolf said:

"EXCELLENT photos and report, Vinduroman! Your mountains look fantastic to ride. Love that singletrack you found, too."

Thanks TW! Glad you enjoyed it. I too, am anxious to get some time to go back up there and check out that single track. I "think" I know where it should connect too. Unfortunately, it will be 3 weeks. I work Saturdays until the end of March. (Unless the train is annulled.) This Sunday we're heading over to the daughter's to do some hand gun shootin' and be with her and the grand daugther. Monday begins a 13 day stretch with no day off. Sooo... lookin' like sometime in March will be my next shot at it. Bummer.

OLEARY:

Yup, there's still a TON you have yet to see. You barely touched on it. However, much of the stuff you haven't seen is a bit more "remote" and sometimes a bit more technical than we were on. Sure wish the winter would last longer so I can ride longer. This "work Saturdays" from the first of January to the end of March is the pits. I lose so much good riding weather.

Promise you'll leave the orange thing at home??? (Only kidding.)

Scotty:

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the pics. As for the terrain: You'd be fine on it, I'll bet.

Thanks for the thanks and thanks for the heads-up... I'll try to get an answer back to you ASAP.

katbeanz:

Thanks for saying so! Also glad you enjoyed our Colorado trip!

Lee Creek was a bit up today

Only had to work a half day today so I was able to get out for a short ride. Despite the wet weather yesterday the road conditions were quite nice. Decided to go down to natural dam and up pannell road. No problems except had to detour around Lee Creek since the water level was kinda up.

Looked long and hard at the crossing but finally decided to detour. Great day for a ride!!!
Loving the XC

Nice pics Earlevet! It DID look like a great day to be out on two-wheels.

How are you liking your XT? Almost bought one for the wife. She decided on a Honda CRF230L instead.

Edit: Ooops... X "C" not an X "T"... I think with the letters "BMW" involved too... nevermind! Not quite the same as a Yamaha XT!!!

The bike is a blast Came off a GSA and worlds of difference on the tight trails. Needed a lot of work to get it adventurized to my liking. A lot of people think it is tall but this not been a issue for me.
Today I decided that I need to learn how to adjust forks for compression and rebound. Seem to be feeling a lot of the bumps through the handlebars.
The pictures are from my Droid phone. This thing takes awesome pictures. One day I hope to acquire a go pro or something that makes it easier to snap pictures on the go.
Cheers

Eventually, I was close to Waldron. Hey... seein' as I'm within striking distance... it would be shame to not try the Char-Broiler... right? (The Beanie Weanies can wait... I can be a REAL MAN some other day!) So I did.

Had me a Chicken Fried Steak lunch special: Huge chicken fried steak and a pile of mashed potatos, both smuthered in white gravy, and Texas Toast. Didn't take food porn pic... but here's the place:

I showed my manager where I work this picture since he's from Waldron. Says they have good burgers there. I was kind of let down about you passing on the Beanie Weanies and caving in on the chicken fried steak though.

Well... does beef jerky and water count? That was my eatin's a while back on an all-dayer. Also, another one a few months ago: Water and a couple of protein bars. See? I'm still hardcore, dude, HARDCORE.

Gotta' admit, though... for more yummy in the tummy... anything on the Oark General Store menu has it all over a can of Beanie Weanies.

Still, though, I used to REALLY enjoy just sittin' out in the woods chillin', and eatin me a mess of Beanie Weanies. Best done while relaxed beside rushing water. The rushing water provides a nice place to clean the Beanie Weanie can and your spoon, then stomp the can flat and pack it out in the fanny pack. FWIW: I never leave any trash in the woods. Candy bar wrappers, empty water bottles, whatever, get compacted, then packed out in the fanny pack and into the trash can here at the house. Me motto: Take only pictures, leave only tracks.

Hope to see you at some of the camping events this year.

Hey Oleary, Was able to cross here a few months ago. If you would have been with me and it would have been 30 degrees warmer we would have given it a go! This crossing will save you about 7 miles of slab to Natural dam and puts you out right at Panell rd.
I will defiantly be catching some of the camp outs this year. Just got the wolfman saddlebags to mount on the Hepco Becker racks. Find I am looking for smaller camping supplies since I have gone to about 60 liters of storage on the XC vs a Gazillion litters on the GSA. Sure dont miss the weight

Thanks for the vids 10Cup! Looks like another fabulous day to be out on two wheels! I was on 8 wheels... until two of them fell off the rail!

Thanks Gentlemen, the clay was surprisingly good for traction. I had a ball and really took the speed up. All good, had to get out before the colder weather hit this morning. Looks like next week will be good though. Hoping we don't get any snow.
