Yeah cuz we didn't have any idea it was that deep on either side of the low water crossing!! Would have been very bad to have gone off the side there!!

The Beautiful Women Ride........

yes that is right Beautiful women, saw more of them today than on any other ride. In fact we were so struck that we didn't even get a picture...TOTAL failure on that I just can't believe we were all three so lame that no one pulled out a camera...mostly discusted with myself.....started out this morning at 0745, DRZ Charlie pulls in then Oleary and we head out on a loop that took us down as many new dirt/gravel roads as we could find through Devils Den and then looped back toward the Oklahoma border and back in.

It all started when we pulled into Lincoln, Ar. for our first break. Go in to pay for gas and a drop dead gorgeous blond is at the cash register, don't know about the others but I was trying real hard not to "stare"....nice girl. Married of course but very pretty. We sit down for a cup of coffee and snack and watch at least another four or five girls come and go that were all very pretty girls, not one picture......we are getting WAY too old.....lame man just lame.

On the other hand it was a very nice treat to three old codgers

So we gas up and head on "down the trail" still mumbling to our selves about the "scenery" in Lincoln!

Wasn't long before we come to a sign that says, "Bridge out ahead"......of course we go check just to be sure..........

One lane across..........no problem!!

Here goes the Dizzer..........

One thing you learn about Charlie if you ride with him for a while is that he is first a fantastic rider but also loves a challenge.......super fun to ride with

Other side of the bridge........

View from the bridge....

Oleary is obviously still shell shocked from the beautiful women we saw in Lincoln because he walks back down from checking out the bridge and proceeds to get on my bike.zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Fun as hell, he picks up my sunglasses laying on the seat then realizes he already has sunglasses on Oops wrong bike.

after that little bridge crossing on we go. I was riding sweep for the first part of the trip and it was DUSTY.....

We all took turns and by the time we got back to Rogers about 4pm we had all snorted enough dirt to plant a crop.

We pull into Devils Den and find that they have a small café there so we stop to get some grub..

Can't believe it! We didn't get a picture of the Dizzer......really bad job on the camera today. Hopefully Oleary did better

This area is very nice and a great facility to bring the family.

After leaving Devils Den we head on toward Lee creek. Now we know we have a real testy water crossing in front of us with our planned route but not to be deterred we forge ahead. Not long we come upon "it"...

I notice that my riding partners are "right behind me"....at this juncture.

Yeah, sure let Mikie do it .............I dismount and walk out a ways to check how slippery the rocks were because this crossing already has a bad reputation for drowning motorcycles.......not bad actually I think it's doable........next thing you know who is starting across.......

Click here for a short video of Charlie crossing........

We all make it across but this was the deepest and widest crossing yet. Steam was rolling off the exhaust and I could feel the heat on my leg about half way across. When in doubt GAS IT......worked just fine too

On we go now heading back NE toward Siloam Springs and then Rogers. Come around a corner and this is sitting in the road !!!

Next up we come to another bridge that is "closed" when we get up to it we see a bunch of Kyakers having a ball in the river below. We dismount and two guys says that bridge is private property and the owner just chased us off the bank.........we walk up and the bridge is easily crossable. Coming back to the bikes we see ANOTHER beautiful girl. Says she is from Fayetteville, most likely a college girl, who is very nice and informative about the bridge etc. then proceeds to strip her wet suit off while I stand there like a (*&^&)(*(* and stare AGAIN not getting a picture.......what a shame.

We decide to play "dumb" actually today we weren't playing dumb but living it I think. We all get mounted and head on across the bridge making it with no problem, no one getting shot and no one even getting yelled at, on we go.........

Not much happened after that, we did have a couple of surprises in the way of water crossings that turned out to be more like water hoop de doos and caught us out but other than getting a good splash no problem. We did come to one last crossing that looked quite deep as we could not see the bottom. Once again the Dizzer found a way across and we all followed suit and were back in Rogers as mentioned earlier by about 4pm.

Fun day and I broke out some cold ones for each of us before Oleary and Charlie headed toward home.

Great day but not enough pictures of the important thing

stats and tracks...

Ride Report Camera

I think I have found "the" camera for ride reports, Pentax Optio W90..........dustproof........now that's what I'm talking about. So far I have ruined two nice Sony cameras due to dust. I can leave this little guy hanging around my neck and get many more great pictures. Anyone own one?

I don't have a lot to add to the report except some pictures.

The scouts on the first "bridge out"

I went ahead and crossed the bridge and waited for Mike and Tim to take their turn.

As for the "beautiful women" Mike isn't putting you on. The Blond at the Phillips 66 in Lincoln was incredible! She was not only beautiful, she was endowed like that proverbial brick edifice. I couldn't speak for a 10 minutes...

While there we had a cup of coffee. There were some locals at the adjacent table who asked if were on the TAT. How cool is that? they knew all about it.

Somehow the group got separated. I had Tim in tow and Mike was riding sweep. Then all of a sudden there was nobody in my mirrors. So, I pulled over, took care of natures call (that's takin a piss to you heathens) and then cleaned my visor. Still no Tim or Mike. So, I took a picture of where I stopped and turned around to look for them.

I found them waiting on me thinking I was behind them??? WTF? they were behind me..still don't know how that happened.

Next stop was Devils Den State Park. Beautiful place ruined by these two.

The WPA built most of the structures in Devils Den during the "Great Depression". It is impressive to see the structures still standing and thriving.

Mike already posted vids of the long water crossing. I stayed to the right near the rocks when I crossed and it was really quite shallow. These two had to do it the hard way.

Mike had a little trouble getting the WR off the line...he revs it several times and starts across ...in the wrong gear and kills it. I got a chuckle outta that.

I rode the bike from Holiday Island to the start of the route and then back home after our ride. I had slightly different mileage.

It was a fun day. We had loose (very loose) gravel most of the day, deep ruts in a farm field divider road, sand, big loose chunks of rock (compliments of the worlds worst grader operator) and as Mike said we hit one road that had a concrete creek crossing every 1/4 mile or so. Woops with water...the first and the last one surprised all of us. I had the DRZ airborne on the last one.

Don't really have anything to add that hasn't be said, just a few pic's and comments.

The first closed bridge was something I saw on Google Earth. The MapSource software wouldn't let you go that way because the road was out but I saw this other bridge there and we gave it a go. This is obviously a pedestrian bridge. Was interesting.

Devils Den. Notice Mike down there in the middle after getting his waterfall shot.

Some shots of Lee's Creek. I must say, Charlie is fearless. He is the first one to take on the challange at hand.

Pit stop on the trail. Boys are still talking about the girls we saw in Lincoln.

A couple of shots from the second closed bridge. I did get a shot of some of the kyakers/canoers from a distance. Man that looked inviting. A dip in the river would have felt real good right about then. I keep saying that one of these days I am just going to lose the laundry on one of these river crossings and jump in. One of the kyakers said he had a KTM600 and talked about riding the Continental Divide. Charlie told him about the ADVRider site and told him to check it out.

Thats it for me. Great variety of roads and a lot of dirt. Great day for riding.

similar camera

I opted for the Panasonic TS2 waterproof, shockproof with HD video. So far it has done well. Survived the ride yesterday and hopefully will have many more ahead.

The next step is getting it more accessible than in a case strapped to the chest strap on my camelback, perhaps just a lanyard?

Also, great ride report. Hope to do one similar....
