If you want a thread on modifying the Reflex/TLR for trials, there is lots of info on the Trials Central forums.
While I'm here, what do the HD rants have to do with any of this? Spare us.

Bwa-hahahahaha!!!

And yes I know the engine is not at TDC in the pic. After installing the cam gear I rolled the engine over (ever so slowly mind you) to make octo-sure of my crank/cam timing. Too lazy to roll 'er over to TDC for the pic. Sue me.

Now for....The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.

The Good: WOW, what a difference. I set the camshaft timing up 6 degrees advanced, and what a difference it made in off-idle response!! OJ now lofts the front wheel with just a tad of throttle. Not quite 4RT territory, but a damn sight better than stock fer sure!!!

The Bad: I did notice over the past couple of events that the cam chain was starting to clack. Got worse last weekend while helping Miss Bitters set her Trial, scheduled for this upcoming Sunday. "No prob," I thought. "Gonna hot-rod this heap later this week anyway. I'll adjust it afterward."

The Ugly : The camchain tensioner is out of adjustment. I probably already knew that, just didn't give a shit. Well hell, it's running so damn good now that I may......MAY have to give some thought into....hootching up this old heap. Mind you its been a damn fine warhorse for years now, and if I start making it better it will snowball into a full-on resto-mod. There is no middle ground with me. Dammit, we'll see. Stupid fun project bikes anyhow..........

*EDIT* For those who may kvetch at the spending money on the "Junk only" aspect of this thread, let me say this right now. The cam sprocket cost a whopping $19 DELIVERED. I usually spend more than that on beer for a Trials weekend, so I REALLY don't want to hear it.

Crap, I have $19 less to spend on beer this weekend. Was the mod worth it? Stay tuned to find out!!!

The whole point to the build and the thread is to have fun on a bike that I don't have $400 total invested into, and that price includes the cost of the gas for the truck to go to different parts of the state to gather up the bits that made up this bike. As I've stated before, the gearing is fine, the ergonomics are improving, and the power is being left alone. I have absolutely NO plans to hot-rod, frame-mod, or otherwise try to make something out of this thing that it's not. It it there to compete in TS this year, as is. If I really wanted to have a vintage Honda trials bike project, I would start with a genuine vintage Honda trials bike such as an RTL, TLM, etc. The only work being done to get this old warhorse through a Trial is on my skills.

Plans still call for raising the bars and widening the pegs. After that, I may recover the seat. That is where the "mods" end, period. Heck, someone offers to trade it for a gennie vintage trials bike, it's outta here. I don't see that happening, so it stays in its scruffy persona. I appreciate your suggestions for improving old OJ, but it's just not happening. I have MANY other projects I'm currently ignoring, so I'm not about to add OJ to the list. Thanks though.

Tecate isn't really beer, so don't stress about it.

Cheap, comes in a can (won't explode like Corona bottles do on sandstone while scoring. Ask me how I know).

Tecate: King of the skunk beers!

After 3 or 4, you think you could clean any section. Well if you could still start your bike.
