I had a good ride yesterday with Bobby and Rodger, my local BMW riding buddies. The weather was perfect. We did some recon riding in the Natchez Trace State Park in West TN. There are many dirt roads and gravel paths within the park, as well as some pipelines that have a lot of quad action on them. The only thing we had to watch for was other traffic, including horses and hikers. There is a fair amount of riding to be done over that way. There is a campground, lakes, lodge and other ammenities.

I have yet to find a map with all of the numerous roads listed within the area. Some of the roads look relatively new and are still dirt/mud without a gravel top layer as of yet. I'm sure we will get down there to ride some more in the near future.

After we left the park, I headed us towards the western shore of the TN River. Lots more gravel to be had on those back roads as well. The TVA roads down in the bottom lands were the best. Lots of decent dirt roads down there. We then worked our way to I-40 and jumped across the river and then doubled back along the north side of the interstate to the bridge over the TN River. There is another TVA road back there that we tried to run but eventually got to a big blowdown that stopped us. I did not see any recent tracks on the other side of the blowdown so there was no guarantee as to an exit on the south end of this road. I will have to try to find it from the southern end at a later date and see if I can make the connection.

These roads in Decatur and Humphries Counties, combined with the western side of Perry and Hickman Counties can make up for a long weekend's worth of riding lots of dirt.

Note for Sandal Scout: I found a great road down in the Bakersville Bottoms called Jack Branch Road. It is passable all of the way through but not during conditions of heavy rain. There is still more to explore down that way, especially over near Loretta Lynn's area...some nice roads were ridden over there yesterday on the way back home.

Is anybody going to Cycle Gear's bike night this evening? I may head down that way. Norm, the manager, said something about a professional photographer and a fire breathing woman is supposed to be there.

You rode to Coble for lunch. Cycle Gear has free food. C'mon Rob, maybe you don't want your picture taken or your hair singed, but when was the last time you passed up a free meal?

There is little if any entertainment in Coble and I ride there for the ride (not for the food). That being said, my waist line is a testament to the fact that I rarely pass up free food. The problem is the venue. I have dealt with Cycle Gear only twice in the last four years, and I am convinced that 90% of the staff needs assistance spelling "Cycle Gear" much less being able to show up at work on time.

I have all the food and entertainment I need on the dirty south side (see above post)

Doug, I just missed you this evening. I saw you turning at the light at Myatt Drive. I hung around for a while, but things just seemed slow. Did the firebreather show up?

I don't mind holding it a bit for a local friend, but I'm really needing to get it out of the garage.

It's a bad ass..... I just don't need 4 dirt bikes.......... or do I

Ya'll holler at me if you want it fo sho . . . Maybe send me a deposit??

2 cars, 4 bikes and a riding mower in a 2 car garage........ I'm getting tired of having to move everything around any time I want to wipe my butt. ANd if you've seen my garage...... junk somehow stays on the floor for a looooong time
