I do not cut, I just call ahead and as a friend they try to get me in faster, I have eaten there for many years and become friends. That is why they do that for me. Other friends get the same consideration. A way of showing long term customers a little extra.
As I said earlier, if I can help get us in faster on the Friday of the rally, I would. Having heard no response to that offer, I have made to attempts to do that. I would call him and give him a heads up as to how many to expect. That would help US and Him. |

When I and Ghost ate there 3 weeks ago we mentioned it to the woman running the register (and dropped your name). She donated a gift certificate for the drawing and let us put up some posters. Nice people, good food.

I contacted LC and told them I will give them a head count before we head there Friday. She said as long as we get there before 6pm we should be fine. They will do all they can do to help us out. Also thanked her for the gift certificate.

Okay, here is the deal. There are good places to get BBQ in Arkansas, but they aren't always the best ride. There are places to get good food (though we usually look for a really good bacon cheeseburger), because it isn't always BBQ. On Hwy 7, at Pelsor, the old Hankins Country Store is now a Bakery and bike/hunter friendly store. No fuel, but you can get that in Clinton, Jasper, Russelville or somewhere else close enough. The roads are great and the lady there smokes a beef brisket that is pretty darned tasty. It isn't pretentious. You see her small grill out front with the white smoke billowing out of the top, but she cleans the meat well (I hate fat/gristle on meat) and she puts it on bread with some sauce. No pretense, it is a darned tasty sandwich...and though it may not be the best BBQ you've ever had, I enjoyed the hell out of it and it is as good an excuse as any to ride some very, very beautiful roads.
PS: She is closed on Saturdays of all the darned things. ![]() If you are interested in other foods, I have plenty of places around this state that have fed me well.

Flores Store in Helotes has very good Q with a interesting atmosphere. The country music history here is so thick you can cut it with a Bowie knife.

Halfway between Dallas and TexArk on I-30 at exit 162-A there was a good Q-place on the north side of the highway but I don't remember the name. NW Ark seemed to have Q joints in every little town. There is no bad Q just good and great.
