The nasty truth of these TV shows is that the restaurant frequently pays the production cost to be featured in the show. So its kind of a decision the owners have made to advertise. In both SL and Coopers cases, TV exposure came out at the same time as they expanded. This can lead to a loss of focus and a decline of food quality.

Great BBQ is hard enough to make that it requires an experienced pitt man and a lot of focus. I've always believe that great BBQ can't come from a chain. Perhaps good, but seldom great.

Anyone want to explore some new BBQ this weekend?

That's a morning talk/soft news show. He didn't pay to be on that (well, maybe covered his travel costs). Its just the travel channel or food network type shows that want the production costs paid for by the places profiled.

Sinton is by Corpus Christi. That's a very long ride for me. Especially in this heat.

I hope they're somewhat correct. Its supposed to be 105 today here in SW Fort Worth.

I can do Sunday. But lets make it at 11:00, there's no reason to chance it. I've had too many rides become uncomfortable because the weather didn't do what the weatherman thought it would.

I kind of had thoughts (they weren't fully developed enough to be called plans) on Saturday, but I can maybe change those if need be.

I can't go on Sun. But don't change your plans for Sat. unless you really want to.
the chance of rain may mean that there will be enough clouds to provide shade. :-)

Not sure if it's been mentioned, House Park BBQ in Austin. 900 West 12th street in Austin deserves to be in here. Eating some brisket right now.Fall apart tender. It's a litle bitty rustic place . all the pictures and flyers from days gone by are well smoked. Open 11am to 2:30pm Mon-Fri.

I'll give the brisket an 8.

Most of ya'll know me by now....I can go either day......& DEFINATELY get there at (or before) 11 to beat the heat gettin back in. I figger on ridin some of the Coryell Co paved stuff while windin our way towards the smell o smokin meat. Some o those roads have a bit of shade too....

We could meet up in Gatesville for a centralized location for Ft Worth/Austin folks to get to. ...Say about 8-9am so we'd have plenty of time to "get there" ...huh

I like the Gatesville idea. While I'm not an super-early riser, I also don't want to be out in the afternoon sun, so I vote Gatesville at 9:00 and be eating BBQ brunch at 10:30 - 11:00. I really don't care which day. I was thinking about going to the DFWBMW breakfast Saturday morning, but I don't have to.
