So, I have NO idea what route I should do. I have a 620 Adventure and I'm a decent rider...A course too much?

I rode my 990ADV last year on the B course easily enough and was jealous of hearing of a guy that did the A course on his GS.

I would think that the 620 would do just fine if this year is comparable to last year but if the weather gets nasty...

I read somewhere that if it rains, they won't run the A course and everyone will do the B course? I have 80/20 tires on my XR and plan on doing the A. If I have trouble making a section, I'll just use my standard solution, hit it faster!

Do you wanna cruise or do you wanna work a bit? If it is wet at all I would think an XR650 might be a bit of work at times. I have seen pics of prior BlackDogs where a 250 2 stroke was a lot of work. YMMV

250 2 stroke? Those are mini bikes! Besides, those aren't street legal?

IF you are a decent rider, then you could do the A course, but the A course is designed to be A-class enduro type challenges. The big 620 would work, but you'll be wanting a couple of Snicker's Breaks methinks! And don't blame me if you get in over your head!

I went to the site and the registration seems to link to a 2009 PDF, is this still the right one? anyone got the direct link to what i need to fill out or where to sign up? the website is a little vague. the flyer link is the closest thing i found to a spot to register, but as i said it listed 2009.

I would love to ride the A route on xr650l if i could tag along with some more big bikes...?

Thanks,

Andy

Go to this page:
http://www.blackdogdualsport.com/bd_events.htm

...at the top you have two choices:

1: download the 2010 flyer (from the top-left link titled "CLICK HERE to View/Print This Year's Flyer!(PDF format)"), fill out and mail in, or...

2: click the link at the top-middle that says, "Now you can signup/Register Online!", which takes you to the online registration/signup

I have no idea where you found the 2009 info you are referring to. Hope that helps.

Signed up and instantly began believing that this is June. It's been confusing.

Anyone heading out from, or cruisin' through the Corvegas/Eugene area? Specifically anyone who wants to avoid I-5 and I-84?

You are all over the place today. Are you riding an Adventure bike in the Black Dog (hence the ride up off the freeway)?

Tell us more mysterious stranger......

Personally I will be staying on the freeway since I will be driving a motorhome to the Black Dog.

I have to hit the forums before the coffee wears off . . . Hmmm, more coffee would be good about now. I am Jak, new to Corvallis, not to OR. Most recently spent a couple years in Pendleton.

I'm riding a KLR in, and likely to the Black Dog. It's been and adventure compared to the VTR I had last. Does that count?

Getting more time on dirt/gravel seems a good idea before jumping into my first rally. Learned about putting knees down (one at a time) in Tucson, and now it's time to stay upright in the dirt/gravel/mud, eh?

However, your mention of motorhome has got me thinking of a more comfort conscious trip. French press, bacon, the BIG tent and all that.

Welcome.

I spent my young formative years in Pendleton ... but that was long ago. As long as Mrs. Sage is coming along the motorhome has no extra spots ... it she decides she doesn't want to hang out in Hood River for a weekend, which is unlikely, I will let you know.

You will find plenty of gravely roads in both the coast range and the cascades, although mud in some spots (see ride report in Eugene thread) and snow in others is still an issue at this point in time.
