Added a 690 Enduro Touring Windscreen to my SE...

Fairly straight-forward install (no thanks to the supplied instructions).

I think this is just what I was looking for in a windscreen. The angular styling seems to "fit" the styling of the SE's headlight mask and the size is just large enough to get the wind blast off my chest whilst retaining clean air around my helmet.

Before the screen at 80 mph or higher I felt like my arms were being stretched like rubber bands from the wind on my chest. After a quick 20-mile ride yesterday with the new windscreen all that wind pressure was gone. And no buffeting around my head.

Applejam,

I like what you're doing here, but it seems a little wide for me. Ski's are kind of a pain in the ass on the 950, aren't they? I have actually just gone to carrying them on my back on a backcountry type ski pack. The tails go on the left side of the bike and the tips are over my head on the right. Gobi bags to carry the gear. This works if you aren't too far from the mountain. Oh, and don't try to get on the bike with the ski's if you are still inside the garage!

My buddy Trick built a rack that uses shotgun racks from the ATV/huntiing crowd. The shotgun racks mount on to the Gobi frames on the left side of the bike. This puts the skis on about a 45* angree facing toward the rear. The tails of the skis are right down by the heel of his foot with the tips just over his head and just past the rear of the bike. It works pretty well. He then puts a Gobi bag on the right side to carry his boots, etc. and throws his ski helmet in the tankbag.

Thumb cycra handgaurds

Standard fit Cycra's NOT CRM bend.CRM dont fit 950 Adventure.

Easy to install NO bending.

This is where the problem w/ CRM bend came it.Less than zero clearnce.

CJ Akro sparky.
Perfect sound a little louder than w/ quite insert.

No offense to the guys who have the SM screen...But, like you, I felt that the angular look of the "E" screen just seemed to compliment the natural KaTooM lines. In my very humble opinion, the SM screen is just too rounded.

I first saw the 690E screen on Inmate "dogsslober" 's SE. I really like the look of it, but couldn't find any close-up(s). I appreciate you posting the close-ups. I really wanted to see how much higher the screen sat, in relation to the stock headlight mask.

By the way, how did you remove the headlight mask (to drill)?...make a wish, and start unplugging all the spaghetti behind the light?

Ceramic coated exhaust system

In an attempt to generate some cool (pun intended) I decided to black ceramic coat my stock exhaust system on my '05.5 950A. Here's the "before"

I took it apart and took it all to Impact Coatings in Edmonton. They were very nice (they do lots of bike work) and it cost $333 CDN for the works - they do multiple layers inside and out. Looked like this.

I hadn't taken the mufflers off, but decided they needed to come of for the install - no sweat right? Yeah right

Two twisted off bolts and many hours of joy on the drill press - but I finally got it done

I did the heat shield as well - maybe now I won't melt my pants.

A fair bit (like 1/4 cup) of fine light grey powder with silvery bits came out of the mufflers intake end as I worked on them. They seem to work fine - sound the same etc. so I've decided to ignore it - but I may have pooched the cats.
(I see Wings in my future!!)

I like the look of the black silencers - what do you think? KTM's garage mate turns her back in disgust - do you think Suzukis have feelings?

I still have to re-finish the crash and luggage bars (the PO had chromed them ), and my grey Hepcos got pretty scuffed up in a gravel road off last year, so they are getting black truck bed liner treatment.

The Scott's was my last week thing.

Now if it would just stop snowing so I could ride

I...

Rode the piss out of it yesterday and today. Has one of those moments staring at the trail that lay before me strewn with basketballs leading to a river crossing~

Me: "Do I really want to do this on my own?"
Me: "Quit yakkin' and get busy ridin' or get busy cryin"
Me: "Shut the fuck up, Im going"
Me: "Now dont you feel better, pussy?"
Me: "Fuck off"

After that conversation I put my ear plugs back in.

Good times.

Ceramic Pipe Coating Follow-up

Took the 950 out for a ride today (It's not snowing ) to check out the heat impact - if any - of my ceramic coating job (see above).
Verdict - Meh! - I'd say maybe %20 reduction in heat radiating from the headers and mufflers. The pipes do cool much quicker.
Was it worth the time money and hassle? I got compliments in the parking lot at the moto shop, but precious little performance improvement.
What price vanity?

Saturday swapped the front TKC around, slapped a 908 on the rear, an oil change, and went for a ride for 3 hours yesterday afternoon!
