Speaking of last week, I put in a couple of rear spokes.
I had a couple of dead sounding spokes that would not tighten. I looked closer, and found this. (Pardon the dirty wheel.) ![]() ![]() The heads had broken off the spokes. Should look like this. ![]() Has anyone else had this happen? BTW, I had to remove three other spokes to have clearance to install each new spoke. But, I was pleasantly surprised that when I had it all back together and torqued to spec, the wheel still ran true.

Yeap, I had a strange woble in the bike when I hit over 170km/h and I thought I should check my wheels. The spokes on the back wheel needed a lot of work and 2 of them were the same as yours.

new tires installed
Put new tires on, Heidenau K60 front and Heidenau K 60 Scout back, good handling but the top "safe" speed is now around 155-160 km/h (on tarmac), the front wobbles a lot at that speed, I didn't want to push it any further.
On off road they grip like they should. Happy overall. kulturide screwed with this post 03-14-2012 at 03:17 PM |

I put on a new tire too, the day after my spoke project.
It was my first hand mounting on this bike. Has anyone here been able to seat the bead of a Scrop on an early '04 rim using anything less that 1000 lbs pressure? ![]() And in getting it off, the sidestand trick didn't work either. I ended up using a bench vise to break the bead. I guess if I ever get a flat away from home, I will have to hitchhike home, and leave the bike there.

Man, the longer this thing sits in my trailer waiting for parts, the longer the list is getting....
Scotts kit with triple clamp showed up today according to UPS (haven't been home yet), that crack dealer CJ keeps telling me he's got stuff I crave in stock, and the list just keeps getting longer. Even simpy rewiring the aux lights for a relay has turned into, "let's clean up all the wiring behind the dash, wait, this is a good time to install a dash support, wait, lets upgrade the gps mount, wait...." Good thing its supposed to rain and snow for the next coupla weeks. Steve

It probably happened trying to follow you. You'd better check your spokes, man.
