I rode it with my longer 265mm forks installed, and heard something rubbing on the rotor. Found the left side calliper was hitting the rotor. Did I install the forks wrong? Or binding the front wheel axle?
The only other thing I can think of is a difference in 2011 Adv R axle/forks/spacers and those from a 2008 Adv S which it now has.

I see seal savers or similar under those; I got a set of Acerbis guards real cheap, figuring I'd have to build adaptors regardless, but they are too tight on the upper fork leg to run shock sox, which are my favorite seal protector. That's a deal-bearker for me on the high fender unless someone has some input about some lower guards with enough clearance to run 'em.... ....so, now that you've got em on, what's under those guards ?Thanks! Steve

CJ Designs mirrors showed up today! Threw them on and feel much better about knowing I can fold away and also not worry about the master cylinder getting buggered up in a fall.
As a side note, with the STOCK windscreen the buffeting at high speed is a huge improvement with these mirrors! Not gone, but damn near close! Not to mention better visibility for a guy like me who is over 6 feet and can actually see what's behind me now. Great design! She's almost complete!! |

Anyone know what the stock handlebar height is? I should have measured before I started...

What did my KTM do to ME today?
What did my KTM do to ME today?
While making a slight mod with my Dremel, bit of molten plastic from the ABS sensor clip flew up and under my safety glasses. Felt it hit, but didn't realize it was STUCK to me... took a few minutes for me to realize it. Some skin came off with it when I pulled it off. Manly scars ARE part of the OCE (Orange Crush Experience), right?

A guy pulled up on an orange CBR600RR at the lights, I complimented him on his choice of color suggesting that painting his Honda orange still won't help him off road :p
He laughed and said something about how fast the Honda was.... So we have a couple of races from one set of lights to the next, first time I'd tried on the big 990 adventure... I was shocked, I beat him both times, my only problem was keeping the front wheel down lol. Whoever suggests these are a compromise on the road hasn't owned one
