"KTM-teamwest" in Germany was kind enough to have the seat made. I send them the original seat with tape markings on to show them the design and where to put the KTM logos. Very helpfull people.

Meat and Seat

Finally!!

Got a new seat and new tires.
  • Had Dennis Shell build me a custom slab. Dennis is located in Elbert, Co and does some really nice work. He spends a lot of time with you watching your seating position on the bike, asking questions, measuring, etc. Work is quick and very reasonable. He also did my 625 and I was real pleased. Had him take the rise out of the oem seat, widened it, sculpt in some high quality memory foam, used some vented type covering and had him build in a little orange custom section that matches the lines of the bike nicely. He guarantees his work and welcomes you back for any adjustments needed!!
  • Got new Mefo Supers mounted as well. Epic Motorsports in Longmont, Co. Total class act and great guys there. Prices were less than the internet and he popped them on my wheels while I waited this morning.
  • Finally did the flappendectomy as well.
Will field test all this Sunday - plan to run a couple hundred miles. Cant wait!!

Ride-in is not at all mandatory. Had him build my 625 seat without a ride in.

So did I man! Frederick Watershed (Hawbottom Rd rocks) and Micheaux.

I had to test out my new knobbies. I will NEVER ride Scorpians again. I am a convert of the 908/TKC80 combo now.

Spending more $$

My fan works after draining coolant and refilling and "burping". Then I discover that my chain has a pretty good tight spot. Measures just to tolerance. 13,000 miles, needs new chain! Was going to ride today too.

My sweet husband hasn't said a word, but I know he is giggling as his air-cooled, shaft-driven GS sits happily in the shop, maintenance free!

Maybe, but I bet you are the one that has the most fun while on the bike, and that is always more important!

Thanks for the photos

Thanks for posting the clear photos - looks like a good useful well thought out addition to the "bling" available for 9x0 Adventure riders.

Very nice looking bike by the way - I have always liked the late model 950S colour scheme and yours looks very clean!

Cheers. Mark

Shiny new chain

Put on chain. Used the file/chisel/hammer method to remove.
Hammer and punch to "shroom" the pins. Thanks to Viola-Tor and everyone who responded to his thread on chain install. Helped me through it without spending money on a tool. Was a lot easier than I anticipated. Sprocket coming tomorrow. (along with new highway pegs)

Just got back from a rip around the reservoir. Damn, that SMT is a fun bike!

Oh, and I put on a top case too. Still have to put on the center stand.

I bought Pyndon's 2nd last pre-filter kit today, it should get here by the time I'm ready to put everything back on the bike again.

It was looking to clean so I took a passenger out and dumped it in the bush a time or two....
