Testing a pre-filter skin on my Uni.

It's a modified PCC skin I had stiched up the side which slips on the Uni perfectly now, although I'm careful not to tear the Uni at the base putting it on.

The bad news is it really sucks out the low end. But it wasn't a problem for the ride I was doing... mainly adventure touring with some slab at the end. I did have to raise the idle slightly too to compensate for the air restriction.

The good part was that it kept my Uni and main filter super clean and this was after a full two day excursion on dusty jeep trails. I think I could have ridden easily a couple more days with the skin without any problems under the conditions I was riding. And it's an easy remove and replacement while on a long range trip. You simply carry a couple extras in a ziplock that are pre- oiled.

I'm going to try using this skin while swapping out my stock filter with a DNA and see how it runs.

After enduring the constant weeping and multiple o-ring changes the past two years, I finally ordered an Oberon Slave (orange no less) from CJDesigns. Perhaps now I won't have to check the master cylinder before each ride.

Installed the Ralley Connex (dirtnblood) risers on the SE. Awesome product.

Was quite a fuss, as I had to clean up the rats nest of cabling behind the headlight to get to the bolts under the top triple (strange engineering feat re the metal flange extruding from the frame on the right side directly under the top triple/next to the ignition switch - whats that for ??), and then when turning the throttle cables 180 (under bars), disassemble the starter/kill switch so as to shave a few mm off, to allow enough room to pull the rubber boot over the throttle cables with the cables under the starter switch.

Bah ! Enough of my gripin' as it was well worth it - that 1.25" really makes a huge diff, as the pegs on the SE feel so much higher than the 990. Helps with body position, and minimizes fatigue when standin' all day. The bikes ergos are now ever better !

Me too. Well, yesterday. Today I unloaded it from the back of my truck after my wife came and saved the day, after she had to wake up both babies.

Got my two videos from www.dualsportriding.com Friday and spent the weekend watching and riding slow in a dried out stream on my property.

I've been riding 2 wheel contraptions since I was 6 years old when my father put me on a pull start briggs and stratton engined frame with 2 wheels and a bicycle seat and I have to say that these videos are great training tools and I wish they would have been around 40 years ago so I wouldn't have had to learn the hard way.

Even if you've been dirt riding for over 40+ years like I have these videos give you a great Idea of just what these bikes are capable of doing if you know how to treat um and are willing to put in the time to perfect your technique.

This should be a new owners first investment!

Nothing like that, gas just kept spraying everywhere. This particular pump is either wide open or off, no in between.

Takes a while to figure out the perfect angle. I still don't have it down.

Highway Dirt Bikes guards, with mirrors, signals are here but not installed yet. I also put a Scotts upper triple and damper on the bike, as well as new ProTaper bars. Very nice now....lol.

BDCW skid, stand relocate, rack, and Enduristan ordered, Ricks Moto Reg ordered, and Vacuum pump almost ordered.

(950 SE - soon it shall be finished....yah right! haha)
