Thanks Shady Smurf!

Thanks for the info on the wires. I am dual rated, ATP, A&P, IA, 22,000 + hours in a flying career that goes back to 1967. Flew AH-1G Cobras in Vietnam (DFC x2, AM-V x2, Purple Heart, etc), have worked in aviation ever since although I own a construction company as well since bulldozers are almost as fun as flying. Career has been mostly in helicopters, SA15, Bell 205, 212, 412, and in bush style aircraft, Casa 212, Twin Otter, Beaver, Cessna 185, Super Cubs, etc. Right seat in DC-9, left seat in DC-3, and Cessna 208 Caravan. Currently own a Bell 206L4, and just sold my C-185 Bush plane and floats. Getting ready to hang up the wings and just explore the US on the KTM990. Plan to do the TAT with my brother when he retires from SWA as a senior captain next Feb. He rides a BMW 1200 GSA.

Thanks again and safe flying to both you and Hondo. Thanks for your service in gun-ships. Tough business.

You pay a lot of taxes .

To not completely hijack the thread, I have been working on getting rid of New Mexico's rock hard mud off my bike and touching up her new war wounds after an awesome week up at RMAR and a day wandering around NM.

Seems to use more and more oil and engine gets messier and messier so hoped it was the oil pressure sensor but from what I can see it must be the cylinder base gasket.

Will keep filling for now and end the season and look over it when the winter gets here.

That was a cool video. I just thought he worked really fast and was going to see if he'd be interested in cleaning out my gutters - should only need to take him about 20 seconds.

It works so much better with corrected suspension settings!

Ran some sand today:

Doesn't look like much, but this particular spot:

Flat out ATE a lifted, lockered, 4x4 F350 about the time I arrived. Deep, deep, dry, and loose. Nasty. Got through OK and hooted and hollered some...

Several miles of this made it a good test:

along with the usual rocks and critters.

Smoke blew out last night sometime so the views are nice again.

And yes, it was nice and warm!

It was a good day!

Steve

Now I see why you always carry a winch kit...

Since I was a bit stressed I hurried up as best as I could would have like to take better pictures on the different steps.

Did take a few, hard to see but there are clean spots near the base on the rear cylinder:

Oil leak

And here is one on my sync setup for the carbs:

Did screen the Russian way

Little screen mod

apperently it is better than stock, BUT!!!!
initially angle of attach of the top lip was more vertical and it was better at 140km/h, but not tested above 200kmh
with the new agressive lip bend it does deflect most air to the sides, and being cut more narrow than stock it puches air right to the shoulders and sides of the helmet, creating more wind noise in the helmet, which is some what more disturbing compared to wind noise when standing upright in clean air.
Any way no more bouncing of the helmet side to side and no more opening of the wisor by the turbulence!!!!

Another thing is if at 170+kmh and lay flat behind the screen on the tank bay sportbike style-it is ABSOLUTELY quiet in there!!! with stock it was bearable only.....

will keep on experimenting with the lip angle
