Finally got my bike ready today. Took it for a short spin, first time in like 2 months or so. 16 tooth sprocket is awesome, engine runs like a dream now with the valve setting and carb cleanup+sync.

I'd think hard about that one, they're usually routed near the wheel because it's safer to have them near the wheel than to have them snagged on something stationary when you're running through brush or rocks.

I have only had the bike for two weeks now, but being 6'4" tall, adding risers was first on the list. I like to ride most of my off-road on my pegs and need to be comfy...... The previous owner already added an 18mm riser kit (0.70 inches), so with the addition of a shinny new pair of ROX Risers, the bars are now 2.7" taller......perfect for me.

The only change to the standard cable and wire set up, required that I flip the throttle cables 180 degrees.

More farkling is coming, but the wife and I enjoyed a nice ride yesterday at the foot of Pikes Peak, through Garden of the Gods.....and to Amanda's Fonda for awesome Mexican.

Adding a top box will have her feel safer, but she immediately noticed the additional 2" of leg room, over the VStrom and loves the cush ride of the 265mm of travel on this "S".

I have new decals on order, as I can't stand the bubbled and torn stock ones. I also have engine guards (SWMotech) and a Skid Plate (Slavens Racing) on order and will install next week.

I am sooooo ready for this riding season!!!!!!

If you still find the throttle cable restricted at all, just reroute the cables to the right side opening of the frame head. That will give you tons of cable to work with.

I picked a natural colored safari tank for my SE but does anyone know for sure if the safari tanks outgas through the plastic? I think it has a sticker on the tank stock so I'm hoping to be able to do a vinyl wrap. Thanks for any insight you can give.

Tested out a set of Baja Designs Squadron LED lights. I don't understand how lights that small can be so bright.

New water pump shaft and seal

Found the grey crud in the coolant expansion tank of my '08 990 ADV (29k miles). Bit the bullet for one of CJ's water pump replacement kits and did the rebuild over yesterday and today. Sure enough, the OEM shaft had some respectable grooves worn into it. I'd post pictures, but they're rather underwhelming. Hope I didn't screw that seal up. Radiator flush & oil change on the slate for later this week while she's all apart.

Anyone have tips for how to get the forward exhaust pipe out from behind the frame? Maybe I was just extra "challenged" yesterday, but that thing would not cooperate.

Prep for L.A. to SFO to see Pyn at P&C

Air Box refresh... clean/ oiled filterskin over Uni and DNA filter.

Added new TKC80 and new HD tube... cleaned chain, checked tensioner.

First time riding this 500 mile dirt and broken pavement route. Couldn't find a riding partner so going it solo. May do a live ride report if anyone's interested?
