Also picked up my new seat from Seat Concepts, who by the way is just down the road from me. Went with the tall model being 6'2, carbon fiber look sides and a gripper top with orange stitch. Road it for a while yesterday, its better than the stock but still get "numb butt", I think that will go away with more saddle time.

Awesome colour on the BMW

hey guys i seem to have a problem w my throttle response on first and second gear, meaning as i open it the bike rattles a bit. As well as on later gear the throttle feels sometimes "weak". Any idea what it could be?

Hey deepsea rider.

What kind of brackets did you use to mount the lights on the crash bars?
They don't look bad!

.62 fork springs from Slavens.

Seat Concepts lower and firmer seat. Way better than the stock seat, but still get a bit of numb butt. I might try an Airhawk pad for long slab sections.

Replaced the water pump shaft and seal. Pulled the case cover off without breaking the gasket!

Then it got bent over and broke. I suck at mechanic-ing.

Forgot how much I hate bodywork.

Decided to finally chance the windshield & lights around. After searching there wasn't anything out there I liked, so figured I'd try at making my own.
My main idea was I wanted the 2x 90mm Hella lights from the rally bike and an upturned lip to the screen. Just not as saver as TT setup, and it had to be finished on the backside.
So after finding someone who makes a "plug" twin light setup that fits in the OEM screen, I decided to use that and modify the OEM screen.

After lots of maths, I ended up marking the section to be cut by eye.

Heated up the edges, bent the top over, and plastic welded it in place. (Plastic welding perspex is a real pain)

Nothing a lot of sanding can't fix.

Next I epoxied in the twin light plug, and fiber-glassed the rear.

Filling and sanding

This is where I'm at now. Needs some more finish sanding and filling, then it will be painted blue to match the body.

One thing leads to another...

So yesterday I decided it was time to try and fix the wiring issue I've had on my 990 Acc. #1 feed. I hook my GPS to that one so it'll stay on while I stop and fill up for fuel. (And yes, I run the risk of it draining the battery if I leave it on.) Over time, the GPS would start to come on by itself while it was parked (see prior comment) and then it started to switch to battery mode while the bike was running. So I decided to pull the headlight shell and take a look at the wiring.

To remove the shell (with the Safari tanks) I had to remove the two bolts on each side of the front end, and then loosen (but not remove) the lower ride tank mount bolts to allow me to separate the tanks far enough to get the light side tabs undone. (I was working by myself so I didn't have a helping hand.) When loosening the lower tank mount, my left side fuel line start to flow (as in, onto the floor).

Short version: I shut off the tank flows and fixed the wiring issue.

Long version: I then spent three more hours fixing the fuel line and trying to re-attach the Safari tanks. Gotta love the way they fight you every step of the way. Gotta love MORE the way they hold oh so much fuel.

The 20 minute job turned into a 3.5 hour fix a bunch of other shit job.
