After mounting I've decided they're the best mod I've added to the bike so far. Makes the stance perfect for me.

Amazing bike.

i had been pretty happy with the stock front considering its lack of real tread. i have ridden it hard almost everywhere i take the little bikes, plus it was great on the road. my opinion changed quickly last weekend in the mud. it was like ice skating but without the control. pumba (my daughter name him) took his first dirt nap riding down a wide open, graded road. with all the things we have been through, it was kinda embarrassing....

My worst crash so far was on a mellow road with the stock tires. Sand got me though not mud, and it was because I was new on the bike and paying more attention to the surf than the road. I got up really quick to make sure nobody saw I crashed in such easy terrain, lol. Nice new tire, what us it?

I have the Rally on the front as well. Very pleased with it. I did 280 miles in a day on gravel and really liked how it handled. I have 2K miles on it, and it is wearing very well so far. I think I'll put a rear Rally on when I get to Colorado in September to run the Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route. Is your front fender the stock 990, or has it been raised? I had a stock fender on my 950, but it was so low on the Rally that a rock ripped it off.

nope. that is the stock height. i think ktm got smart and raised it a little on the later models.

You can take the wheel out, swap the spacers and discs, then refit the other way............... or let the shop swap the tyre.....

Started my tanks job while spending time in the guts of the bike.
Thicker shielding in the header cutout, the flat opening for the second fan was covered as my fan deflector does nothing and I pulled it. yeas, also my waterpump kit is in the shot. Oh and I snapped my 3m vinyl tool so I had to adapt with a socket hanger tag to smooth things out, so that and an x-acto are all i have needed so far.

I made this shield. more wind to cooler, less wind up through cockpit, = less bufferting. my headtube bearings just gone waste (mud in them), so I hope this shield prevent mud from getting in the new bearings.

cheers it works, less bufferting, but not completely gone

kaytm,

I have done this with cardboard, very easy, took me 20min to make the design, and 1hour to make the final product.

if you fold some thick paper in the middle, you just have to cut one side, then spread the paper out, there you have it, just some final adjustments for the cable routing and soon you have one like mine:)

Ive used 3mm aluminum.

cheers

how much does it reduce buffeting?

i have seen these for the old 640 adventures but had completely forgot about it until i saw your pics. i may have to look into making one of these for myself. looks pretty straight forward, just need to make sure you drill the mounting holes square.

good work,

laramaie

I must admit that I haven`t done serious fast riding yet, I made it today, but some fast riding around here showed less buffeting, don`t expect it getting rit off it completely by this alone. I`ve mainly done this one to prevent mud coming up
