Clues:

The road into the tag(the last pic) is at the intersection of two roads, but they are not roads, but they are the same.

The first road name is what Edgar Allen Poe was reportedly to have called out repeatedly, on the eve before his death.

The second road name is...well I'm not going to say, so there!

I will say though, it is just South of two Switchbacks.

Use Google Satellite view and you can make it all out.
I will say this too. Lots of hard core riding in that area...more than what I feel comfortable riding the 650 on. And BTW, Don't take a street bike. And don't forget to take the high road either in or out. You'll know which one I'm talking about!

Found on Elseas Farm Road near Linden, VA. Good rough road - definitely challenging for 650's.

New Tag Location:

He's off a nice gravel road to the south of a historic property named after an extended and diverging creek. The property was surveyed by a young George Washington and owned by both Lord Fairfax and Lord Culpeper in the past.

It was built in 1811 and is considered one of the most historic and elegant antebellum mansions in the Shenandoah Valley.

He's hiding behind the horse jump.







The road can handle bigger bikes.

Actually the road in could have been ridden by a street bike but the trails going off in all directions looked a little sketchy. The one to the right of where you and I parked was one of the main one I was talking about, and a bit challenging for me.
With my bad Steering stem bearings(which made a loud metallic clunk going through a rut back in there) and no one else around, plus getting dark, I decided to turn around. Just getting turned around without dropping the bike was "interesting".

Depends on the way in...We followed your clues literally - "Take the High road" so we came in from Hightop Rd and came down the Switchback. Glad we did cause it was fun, but no street bike could get down there safely

Anybody know if those roads/trails are open to the public ? There were No Trespassing signs on some land, but it looked as if all the roads are public.

That's funny! I see what you mean by the "high road" being a clue but that was not the intent. I was referring to Switcback Rd(going up high), not hightop. So, you are correct. A street bike would not be a good idea on Switchback.

A guy I used to work with lives up there and he told me about 4 wheeler trails up there. I haven't seen him in years...
I would try and find someone who lives there to go with but some of the trails I saw were not posted and heavily used. YMMV

Tag was at Long Branch Farm, Borden Springs Rd & Long Branch Lane Pvt. Clark County, VA





I had to take the Duck up to the main house for a look around.


then the duck hung out with me in my shop for awhile ..........he's not much on turning wrenches.


after he and I tossed back a few drinks, he went out and got into a little trouble........so the next tag is gonna be awhile!
