Laugh Tag

So....after a nice hot ride on the slab to the civil war sign...the duck whispered to me he'd like a little adventure...maybe some cooler temps at the top of a mountain someplace.

This Tag is 62 road miles from the last one. My round trip milage was 128 miles...but who's counting

I predict that it will take VaTrader or BWalsh to get this one . In fact...if they can resist the temptation to run this fine road...I'd ask that they wait a bit and see ifn' I'm not right and that if they don't get it...none of the regulars on this tag game will! Of course...the temptation may be too great.

To get to the Duck...you have to use the road that crosses (east to west) from where you'd Ski (within the NW tag bounds), to a State park (not in VA). The road name is three words and represents a stream that ain't straight. It's a regular road (not a forestry road). The aforementioned park name is named for a stream you can't find.

Near the top of the mountain on said beauuuuutiful road the gas lines cross and so there's a clearing (both viewable on google maps satellite view). There are several gas markers on the uphill side and one obvious one on the downhill side. The Duck is enjoying the elevation and view at the base of the downhill marker.

Tag Shot~ Duck is at base of marker here shown behind the Swamp Thing on the downhill side:

The duck

The uphill side for reference...no duck here...

Down the road

Stopped to air down when I got on the gravel and met this great fellow named Chris. A cool hillbilly kind of guy that keeps the trees out of the power lines. Sweet TW and he knew how to ride it. He was headed for a raspberry patch . He was all about my bike and the tag. He said you city boys oughta' come on up and find that ole duck soon.

I wondered why you were on 66 instead of 55 - apparently on a mission to grab a tag!

Grab.
38 51.416'N 78 47.996'W
Crooked Run Rd.
Near Jerome VA in Shenandoah County
Also near Bryce Resort.

You didn't disappoint with this one. In fact as I was driving up the mountain enjoying the paved curves and eventually the gravel switchbacks I was thinking I'd just "re-tag" in the same spot so somebody else could use an excuse to check out the road.

I arrived at the tag spot just seconds ahead of a wicked cloud that was already announcing it;s presence with cracks of lightning. I grabbed a few pictures (which came out much darker than I was expecting but there wasn't time to re-shoot) and ran (forgetting my sunglasses in the process. Damn!)

The wind, rain and lighting came, I was soaked, the road turning into a flowing river but I made it down the mountain.
I finally escaped the rain near I-81 and slabbed it home.

The tag remains. Go get some better pictures than my own.

Bravo...now that's the kind of tag adventure i'ma talkin' about

Who's next?! (and Bombazo...where did you leave the sunglasses ? )

...we could see how many people would go up there and photy-graf their fine motorcycles with the duck at that location

I know how beautiful the ride is over there but let's not loose focus on what this is...a "moving" tag game. Now you have me thinking of another type of tag game!
Bombazo, I can't give you the grab if you left it in the same spot but I can give you a "Visitation". The FIRST one on ANY tag game!
Or are your sunglasses the new tag? Post up where you left them so the next person can grab them for you.
It CAN/WILL be back in the area eventually. I had been thinking of using the same road...
Just a gentle reminder...

On another note, I can't believe the VA tag hasn't moved?!

It's spitting distance to the current NoVA tag too. I might have to do a 2 for 1 tomorrow a.m.

Good luck on the double grab! Looks like it is going to be a wet morning/day.
