Dang that looks mighty good. Isn't El Pureto next to the motel where 23 intersects 64? I was just by that last Saturday.

Thumb Backwoods BBQ

I'm kinda surprised nobody has mentioned Backwoods BBQ.

I live in Kansas City, and we are kind of famous for BBQ. However, I've eaten at Backwoods BBQ just W of St. Paul, AR 3 times, and it is consistently the best BBQ I've ever had.

Backwoods BBQ is operated by Cory & Anita Bacon--two of the nicest people you'll meet. Cory is a BBQ master from Memphis who moved to St. Paul, AR to help Terry Forsythe start the Fort Rock Family Camp. They operate out of a small RV trailer on the S side of Hwy 16 just W of St. Paul, AR.

They also have a lady from their church who makes the pies they sell---incredible pies!

NOW THE BAD NEWS...I just called and talked to Cory. They shutdown for the winter. They plan to open back up in May.

I've been by there so many times and never tried it. Looking forward to trying it when they open up for the summer.

Thanks for the tip on Backwoods BBQ. Wife and I have ridden past it several times, just never stopped and tried it. Now we're talking a Harley trip up there just to try some of their BBQ once they're open!

K's Country Kitchen

So I stopped by K's for some lunch today. I give it 2 thumbs up. Had the 2 piece catfish special ($4.99) and peanut butter pie. They even threw in a couple fired pickles that they are planning to add to the menu.
