The issue with the Nuvi 1490 - as well as with most other 'car-type' GPS's is they have built-in hands-free capability. So, the device these GPS's can connect to is a mobile phone - only.
OTOH, a GPS like a Garmin Zumo supports connections to Bluetooth mobile phone **and** a BT headset. You really woulldn't use a car's GPS with a headset, but instead you'd use the built-in speakerphone. With a motorcycle specific GPS, the GPS acts as a bridge (gateway in BT speak) between phone and the headset on a Zumo or other motorcycle specific GPS. Your Nuvi only has the phone-side of the equation
