Hey Shakey:

If I am doing the photography for our May trip, I get to post what ever pictures I want .

You might regret this...

Please don't. It could turn ugly.

Too bad you didn't get a chance to see the Observatory that you wanted to see due to the cameras but it looks like you had a really good time in other respects. I'll be interested to see your next pics too.

Hey, Great post!
I've been in the area for years and know most of the other parks around, but have never taken the time to explore Algonquin. I've heard it's always really busy with people, and that's why I've avoided it. Plus I'm not a fan of canoeing (just kayaking) and get turned off at the thought of all that portaging.
But now I know we can bike into the heart of it. Quick question! Maybe a stupid question.
"What did you do about gas?"
Was it a concern. Did one tank get you in and back no problem?

Cheers

There is a gas station on Barron Canyon Road, just before Sand Gate into the park. My tank is good for about 300 km; I think we rode about 170 km in the park before filling up again on the way out.

Back roads access?

I'm wondering if you have any knowledge about where I could get information on what park back roads are and aren't legally usable. I have found conflicting information online - surprise! I'm interested in crossing the park off-road (R1200GSA) from SW to NE and don't know if the roads/trails that I see on maps are actually usable. Any advice? TIA.

This was a great trip report.

As a brand new dual sport bike owner this is a definite must do for me in the near future.

Next time you go I wanna come, I'll buy the coffee. :)
