I did a Craigs List search on these TY 80's...Here are two that really look good. This is just a public service, I don't know any of the sellers...

Sorry, just kidding.

Thanks for the links! The Denver bike looks sweet, just a little expensive.

Here's another: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/mcy/1895669976.html

Seems like there's a sudden upsurge in the prices of these bikes. I blame automated vintage trials iron speculation programs--damn Wall Street a******s!

ridenm...I have NO ty 80 restoration experence...However, I've realized very early on...Pay now (bike restored) or pay MUCH more later (do the project yourself).

I'm happy with restoring the bike myself, even though it will cost be much more. My son is a garage rat like I am, he really enjoyed building up his Red Baron CRF 50. The ty 80 project will be even more fun for he and I. 'Sometimes' money doesn't matter. Besides I have a one year old son who will get to ride the ty 80 in six years. I hope.

I thought that the one link that you posted was a double post on C/L, maybe I'm wrong.

If you can, buy one for your daughter. Memories and experience mean much more than money. I put off finishing building a XR 650 R race bike for myself, to fund the ty 80 project for my first son.

Sometimes, Dad has to wait...

Great thread guys. Loved the action pictures, certainly looks like a lot of fun. I have been a TY80 enthusiast since I was a kid and have recently created a web page dedicated to the little TY's.
Here is the link if you are interested.

Nice website. Here's a stupid question: is it possible to fit a TY-80 with CDI to skip hassles with points?

I've started writing this post four times now...I just know what to say...

A man who I've NEVER met before (brewtus), just picked up a motorcycle for my son and I (which I had only see pictures of through e mail). And if that wasn't enuff...he (brewtus) then brought it to his house and got it RUNNING as well.

I've been riding for over 32 years, I've helped many of riding partners out of bad situations and been helped myself. BUT, I had established friendships with almost all of these people. Brewtus, you went above and BEYOND the call of duty, THANK YOU SO MUCH .

Talk about good carma..........I just don't know what to say...

Honorable mention: NMTrailboss, for posting C/L ad...Ridenm, for NOT being the one who looked at it first (I still don't know who that was)...NeilKing, for missing out on buying this bike (I'm sorry Neil, I really though the deal fell through and that it was going to you)

Cheers, Jim Garthe
