The mother of the Wright brothers was born 6 miles from Purcellville in Hillsboro.

Here are 4 markers from 3 different counties - Culpeper, Prince William, and Fairfax

Someone used this one for target practice - Its the oldest of the 4 markers
with a date of 1928.

These were off of Route 1 (Jeff Davis Highway) just south of the Occoquan River. Here is a the Bridge on US1



The railroad bridge runs along side. You can almost see where the
Occoquan River joins the Potomac River here:

Decided to pick off the other 2 in my neighborhood. This one is on the map, on 20th Street in Purcellvile.




Although I could have walked to it in about 3 minutes, I did play by the rules.

What is the meaning of the markers tagged with a Z letter identifier and number and where can I find information about these signs? Markers with the Z letter followed by a number at the top of the sign represent markers that are placed at a county or state line. Unlike other markers, each side of a Z marker has different texts--one side of the marker provides information on the jurisdiction a traveler is entering, while the other side gives information about the jurisdiction one is leaving. The 1948 edition of State Historical Markers of Virginia has a list of these signs and their locations. DHR hopes to be able to provide the public an updated list online of these marker locations in the future. (from the State website FAQ).
