The old airport site would have been a good place for a track, but they have already messed that all up. The treehuggers are already crying.

Apparently it's going to be within 10 miles of Austin airport.

Will there be an outlet mall selling toasters nearby?

That turned rather quickly! Would love to see an F1 race in the US, but a purpose built track is awful expensive and I don't see a city or state ponying up cash to get a track built. I also doubt any populace would vote for a tax increase to build a track.

So where is the money coming from?

I hope they have a better go of it than Dallas did with their Cotton Bowl parking lot come to pieces crumbly piece of shit circuit. I was there. THEY were there...Senna, Mansell, Lauda, Piquet, Rosberg, Prost. The track didn't last 20 laps.
Still, I hope this happens. Long but managable drive for me, I'd do it.

If you're bored, here's my take on the first try 24 years ago.

Thank you, Bake.
  1. For the write-up, it was good fun.
  2. For disabusing me of any notion of getting a used Fiat Spyder.

I'd rather see a GP race come to Chicago and happen on Lake Shore + some city streets around Lincoln Park.

But, **if** it happens in Austin, you can bet your ass I will go.
