TH said they have the money. Does anyone in Texas know how to wire? Or fill out a Fed Ex overnight? Ahhh, that charge is what is breaking the deal.

The 25 million was supposed to be paid by the State. But they reneged.

What I read was the partners were putting it up. The state was not going to play until the race. I thought that was the deal all along.

*copied from the american hatesman article*

Three years ago, Combs and Gov. Rick Perry gave Hellmund the credibility to pursue an F1 race for Austin with the suggestion that Texas would be willing to pay $25 million a year over 10 years to lure the race. The idea was that the event would bring in more than enough additional tax revenue to cover the upfront cost to the state. As recently as May, Combs wrote Ecclestone to assure him that the state would advance the $25 million by July 31.
However, when the race was postponed, ostensibly for cooler autumn weather, the money was never paid.

Barber Motorsports Park!!

If you want to race F1 in America, just come to Barber Motorsports Park. This is a world class facility that already hosts Indycar, AMA Superbike, Rolex Grand Am, as well as Rahal's Legends of Motorsports series. The track is already FIA approved.

Barbers has been dubbed the "Augusta of Motorsport" (without the racial overtones) for its beautiful grounds and one of a kind museum.

The local area is constantly working to upgrade infrastructure ( construction was under way during our last visit for the Indycar race) and accommadations for parking, ect.

No need to waste all that money.....just bring the race to my backyard!!!!

Barber is more suited to go-carts than F1.

Love the museum, though.

Not enough run-off, nor is it open enough for F1 speeds. They already have Monaco for that.

It's also in the wrong part of the country. F1 likes world-class cities for race destinations.
