I would pick Austin over Montreal 7 out of 10 times. I love Canada, but Montreal is really not representative of Canada if you are anglo or probably even otherwise. The island track is nice too, nothing wrong there. YMMV.... QC, Toronto, Vancouver (see that I am Bruins fan too...) are way more fun for me as a tourist. I always feel welcome there....Montreal usually comes with some 'tude.

I guess you could say Austin is not representative of all of Texas too. But it is a really cool modern city with a lot going on culturally. And if you like music..... It is a great place to visit when they are not trying to microwave me on the street. The November date should be perfect weather.

Not to dis the Montreal GP by any means, but I think you also need to give Austin a fair shake. You will be pleasantly surprised.

The F1 race will happen in 2012. Whether or not is happens beyond that is the unknown. It will come down to how well the event goes off this year, how much the METF pays out after the event, and whether or not Bernies hemmoroids are acting up next winter.

I truly hope so, but I wouldn't bet my life on it. If, for whatever reason, Bernie decides the race shouldn't be run, it won't be run. He will have ensured there are enough escape clauses in the contract to enable him to do that.
