hey this looks like it has potential. right out my back door relatively. could maybe talk girlfriend into comin along for a scenic ride. ill harass my buddies that have dual sports. maybe get them to ride down from canton area.

sure, sounds good. im counting on it so look for the sp! shouldnt be hard to spot. im at the point where im thinking its ready. hopefully i am too. i got myself a california tank for it off ebay. it was damaged nos. has a fist sized dent in the right side, some chips but no rust. the paint and decals are bright and unfaded, it polished up nice. ended up having to find a california locking cap to go with it, otherwise swapped the petcock over and mounting grommets and good to go. we ready:

TD is right the old girl looks good. For some reason the decals on the side cover and headlight cover crack and peel off. Mine has the same look.
I guess the idle problem got resolved?

how many years have they been using that speedo?
i think the new dr200 has the same speedo

i love bin parts
i used the same speedo from a 1994 dr125 on my drz250 ds conversion

thanks guys, i thought the decals were peeling from its time spent outside. thinking later i might strip em and paint the dark blue backgrounds. i think it would turn out better than it looks now. as for idle, yes its good now. i taped over the holes the po hacked into the side of the airbox. left the one in top. up a size on the pilot jet. 2.75 turns out on the mixture screw. i could then lower the idle a few turns on the screw. took it to the dealer to let them listen to it. he said the noises i hear sound fairly normal to him for a big single. still on list are the valve adjust and balancer chain adjust. see how it sounds from there.

i just totaled up the damages, with the cost of the bike, im into it for $1400 after all ive done to make it right. worth it? you bet!

If thats the new Kenda on the rear it is different than the one I had. The front looks the same. Didnt have any complaints on the front one. Rode about 100 miles today my buddys KLR started coughing up oil. 2007 model and was smoking and leaking on his boot. I asked him if it was ZUKI time

well, my muffler was leaking at the joint so i thought id try to seal it up. when i took the clamp off pieces fell out and i was left with this:



i tried to seal it up but wasnt having any luck. i knew i had an old two bros. streetbike canister from an old project so i thought id see how it lined up. i cut a little off the slip on and could get it close. i scabbed it together for now, needs a welders attention to be complete but it works. its actually quieter or maybe just lower frequency at idle now. you can hear the engines noises now. on the throttle its as obnoxious as any single with an unrestricted muffler. much lighter than even that hollowed out stocker. louder than i like it but ima try it out. been raining all day here, need to go see how long my kludge holds up.

what did you think of its sound tdr? ive been carrying it around with me for about 4 years now. i bought it on ebay years back. its one of the mufflers of an R1 undertail system, i think. i was too embarrassed to show how i cobbled it together. it wont stay that way im sure.

Sounds great, almost like mine. I have a White Brothers muffler that "I" adapted to fit the 1.5" stock pipe. There are ready to use SS cones that reduce a 2" pipe like mine had, or even a 2.5 or 3" to 1.5", get another 1.5" SS pipe and cut it open over the length and have the stock pipe slip in 4cm. Mine came out perfect but I didn't do the welding just the cutting and other stuff.

was there cutting and welding involved in adapting that rmz muffler? i just looked at your thread on it and it looked like all you had to do was fab up that slick mount for the muffler? let me know, i may go that route rather than adapting this pipe. thanks for any input-
