Ttt

I'll have pics of my fancy gas tank soon. I'll be ready to send out the frame and a few other pieces for powdercoat soon.

snap a few pics of your sp in its various states of disrepair. itll be nice in the end to see how far youve come with it. ive thought about stripping my bike for powdercoat myself but i just dont have the time for that right now. maybe in the future though as my frame and swingarm have some ugly surface rust that bothers me.

on a side note, all the parts i ordered for the exhaust except the header are in stock. good news is that the header is still in production, but it could be a wait before its recieved. up to a couple months they said. so just a matter of time.

How much?

How much are they charging you for the header? I may order a new one. Mine is dent free, but badly rusted. When I take it off, I'll see if it's worth ceramic coating. If not, a new one will get ceramic coated, then installed. I'm getting good pics of the progress. It sure wont look like an SP600 when it's done. I'm debating on color schemes right now.

interesting

i just went back to look and the price just went up $33! when i ordered it it was $120. i ordered it from motosport.com. still available at bikebandit also for $140. with bikebandits shipping fees it would be about the same pricewise though. might try your local dealer as baseline price first. i didnt because i thought 120 was a good price regardless.

ill be dipped

well in anticipation for the new exhaust parts i started tearing the old header off. man it was on there. liberal PB dousings and some heat and the right side came off no problem. left side not so easy. ended up snapping those two off. i expected that and have new hardware to replace once i fix that issue. for tomorrow. i also wire wheeled the heatshields and muffler. shot a couple of coats of vht paint on, silver muffler for the factory look for tedulum, lol. as i was cleaning up the ups man arrived and i now have the parts in my possession

Header woes.

I'm having a heckuva time getting the header off. I got it disconnected from the head and mounting tab, but I can't get it forward enough for the two pipes to clear the frame downtube. Maybe I need to take something off to make clearance.

Front guard

Is the guard on the bottom front of your motor a Suzuki piece?

i took the horn and its bracket off and also the oil cooler. i just unbolted it and moved it out of the way. and yes the skidplate on mine is the factory piece it came with although the later 90-91 dr650 skid will also bolt up and it offers more protection. wheres these pics you keep teasing us about anyway?

Stussels that is one good looking bike. I still think the SP is a prettier bike than my DR. I actually like the motor better too. It has a little more low end grunt than my DR. Also the SP was a better wheelie bike for me anyhow. But man that magic button on the right is alot better for my old body.
Now how about getting that thing duuuuuuurty.
