Top Box install over rear seat area

Maybe this is the wrong place for this, but I thought maybe if it had been done that the Micatech guy had heard about it. I have a 2002 R1150GSA that I am converting to a GS seat arrangement (2 pc seat) I would be interested in installing the large Micatech top box (to go with my other Micatech boxes) over the rear seat area, directly behind the rider. I only ride this bike one up so do not need to provide room for a passenger. Has it been done, what does it take?

Hi Mark,

That does sound feasible. The connector piece you'll need is the Micatech Pack Rack and Mount Kit

Take a look at the Instructions for the 1150 for a better idea of how it all goes together.

Feel free to shoot over a PM or an email to info@micatech.net if you want to get more technical. Thanks for your interest!

Harley Davidson

Every now and then we see a unique use of our motorcycle luggage. Here's a very functional top case and backrest on a Harley Davidson Road King.

Any new sketches on the awesome 9" pilot mounted top loaders?

We're wrapping up a few smaller projects first. Sketches are in the works.
Thanks again for your pannier design thoughts!

Awesome! Can't wait ... btw: the Hattech exhaust is working out nicely, did some screwing around with the mount and have it now on a slightly longer bolt, lock nut and the exhaust itself set in three rubber washers on each side of the hanger. Worked out, vibration about the same as stock exhaust now, still quieter and narrower.

One downside: the mechanic told me today that he had to take it off to get the rear wheel off. Not a big problem, a thing of 5 minutes.

The new Dual Sport bike bike touring

Ray gives Dual Sport a whole new meaning with his bike bike touring setup. Ray writes:
In the past whenever I would go to a Rally or take a cross country trip I would always wish I had my Mt Bike when I arrived a my destination. Now I no longer have to wish. The 2x2cycles Rack works well with the Micatech Panniers. The spaciousness of Micatech Panniers gives me plenty of room to safely store my boots and riding suit when stoping for a Mt Bike ride. Plenty of room for my Ortlieb bag (or bags depending on how I configure) on top.
We love what you've done ray. Keep on riding (and riding)!
