Pilot Case Organization Tip

Hey Pilot Case owners ... If you are as anal as I am about keeping things organized inside your cases, I found a cheap solution that works really well for the pilot cases: Rubbermaid Modular canisters fit almost perfectly inside of the cases. You can get them at pretty much any walmart, they are cheap, clear and share the same dimensions between size (except depth) so the lids can be swapped (no looking for the 'right lid')

They fit four across in a full size (right) case and can stack - I use three 5 cup canister containers stacked on top of three 10 cup containers, and one 16 cup container - that's 7 separate compartments and it takes up the lower half of your right case. (Or left if you don't have the cutout) Last note - you can only stack them about halfway up the case due to the taper of the case - you can't close the door if you stack them higher.

Just installed

Put a big set of bags on my 1150 GS. Very happy and really look good with the bike:

Lots of room to access the rear end without taking off the side bag. Might even look into getting a full size left case:

Top case sits a bit lower on the 1150 than the 1200 but that's not a big deal for me:

Gives the bike a nice profile:

Very nice, robust product. And of course, great customer service.

I've had my Pilot cases for just over a year now, and really love them...but

I've been kicking myself the whole time for not doing exhaust mods and getting a full sized left case. Anybody know what silencer will fit behind a full sized left case on a R12GS?

What kind of trade in policy do you guys have?
Seriously though. Is it possible to get just a left box?

Glad to hear you're enjoying your luggage! Hattech makes an exhaust that is slim enough to work with your Pilot cases. Inmate CUG posted this photo of his:

If your bags were new, we'd be happy to do a swap. Otherwise, we can certainly get you left full size case. Give us a call

New Year - New Luggage - New Bikes

We’re starting the New Year with a big resolution: New designs for new models!

We are working on a new mounting system for the Triumph Tiger800/800XC to fit the slim Micatech V-Pilots. The V-Pilots come in 8” and 10” widths.

Also look for the Micatech Pilot luggage for the Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z this season. Additionally, we're working on a rear Pack Rack for the Super Tenere so you can complete your adventure touring setup with aMicatech top case.

Resolve to end your search this year for the best aluminum panniers -- at Micatech.

Like us on FACEBOOK for more details.

Count me in ... There is a roughly 80% chance I'll get a Tiger 800 before the summer comes and I'll be looking for luggage options.

Still asking: I'd be more than interested in a top loading case with Micatech quality, mount, and service! You guys are awesome! Would hate to go somewhere else, but the SW Motech mount isn't for me. That's way too wide for me and I don't like the looks of the different sized cases.

V2 cases.....

OK – I was one of the first to get a set of V2 cases for a Camhead (’10 GS) – the ’10 has an exhaust valve & tube dia. chg.
Guys I ride with talked about "buy cases big enough to store a helmet". My Issue was getting in & out of the garage (a daily tight fit) - helmet storage was another deal. Well - the bags (width wise) were INSIDE the heads or protection bars – so… the bags were a fit for my ride.
A riding season later … get your bags from Micatech! I was skeptical about the size and what they could hold; however, between commuting, teaching M/C safety / hauling gear to class, and rally riding, they just plain work – yeah, yeah, yeah – YMMV.
Might sound like a commercial, but, they work. Do it!
Ride well – see you out there (ask me to show you the bags ....).

Keeping the GS or making a swap?

That's great input! We're a small team but we have this on the priority list as well.

Awesome! Are those LED strip lights or a bank of allen bits or maybe ammunition?

With a Tiger, I'd make a swap. I'm thinking of downsizing a bit. I love the GS, but I'm a bit nuts and change my mind on a daily basis of what I like to ride at any given time.

But I'm not crazy enough to have two bikes for very much the same use pattern.

Just thought I bring it up again. I'd love to be able to use a single liner bag per case that can easily be carried into a hotel room. I really like these:

Though I'm not certain whether are not using up too much space just for the liner.
