I am leaving on a BMW GS off road ride and fishing trip this week. I wanted to take along some extra gas since we will be 40 miles in from Greenville Maine, I had purchased a Koplin 1 1/2 gal. tank and rack for my ATV. I decided to fit it to your roof racks on the GS. I cut 2 sections of aluminum to fit in inside your rack, then drilled and tapped four holes. The pictures are shown on the left side but I will move to the right side for the trip to take weight off the side stand.. This would be great for your customers with roof racks and want the option to carry extra gas. You can move forward or back , left or right as needed. I plan to use it to run to the gas station for lawnmower gas. It is back enough for a bed roll and tent to go roof rack to rack. It will not be a problem getting on and off unless you are over 6 ft.!! There would more room on the 1200 GS. Ride safe.

Hi,

Bought a full set of Pilot cases & top box for my GS & I love them.

However a couple of days ago, I found out that the lock hook doesn't engge with the cut out, in other words it doesn't lock no matter how hard I push down on the lid.

Anyone else experienced this and/or have any suggestions on how I could try & fix it?

Sending it back is not an option as I'm in Australia.

Hey DL,

Hmm.... Any chance you can send over a photo or two? Sometimes the new gaskets can be really stiff, but if you're pressing down with all your might, you should be able to compress it enough to engage the lock.

We test every case before it leaves the shop so this should have happened. We're really sorry you're experiencing this. Give us a little more detail and we'll offer some advice.

l'll take some pics but I think video would be better as that will show that the lid can be lifted when the hook is in the locked position, but then how to post?

I'll look that up elsewhere in the forum & work something out.

Was able to have a good look at the lock this morning (leave for work when its dark & come home the same).

Found that the locking nut was a little loose & the hook had spun a little to the left, easy fix, got it back into position & tigtened it right up.

Working like a charm.

Fantastic products, really recommend them for anyone who wants well constructed , functional & good looking panniers & top box.

I am looking for a 1200GS with Pilot cases with the large top box mounted in the front and rear positions.

I ordered the Pilots yesterday but sold my Dakar today and want to add a top case to the order

These are from the Micatech BMW photo gallery. It looks like we don't have any pictures with the case mounted in the forward position. We'll keep digging and post one if we find it.
