Just as i posted this i thought the location maybe would cause some heat troubles. Good thought there Lukas. When exhaust is done it will be ceramic coated inside/outside. I don´t 100% understand the vaporlock could/would you explain?

Basically the header might heat up the fuel enough that it causes it to change from liquid to gas form, which the engine can't burn. No fuel pressure, no power, stalling, etc.

Is there enough room to mount it further left near the oil heat exchanger thing (if that's what it is) or a bit further up? A heat shield with some reflective material would also help a lot and be easy to make with an aluminum sheet.

It occurs when the liquid fuel changes state from liquid to gas (or vapor) while still in the fuel delivery system. This is caused by heat.

In your case, the heat from the exhaust header being so close to the fuel pump could cause the gasoline in the fuel lines to become a gas (vapor).. causing the fuel pump to not be able to pump (because it pumps fluids.. not vapors); i.e. loss of feed pressure to the carburetor or fuel injection system.

Hope this helps.

p.s. the boiling point of gasoline is anywhere from 100-400 degrees F .. depending on pressure (altitude, etc).

edit: looks like Lukas and I were typing at the same time

Stainless ceramic coated Before use/After use

Update

Blinkers attached

Headlight LC8 headlight to RC8R wire harness.

Dont know the english word for this. I mounted up perfect here.

All this while Søren blasted down the road. The frame should be from a 99 LC4 ex Dakar bike.

Regarding the Vapor lock talk, i´m fiddling with a new place for the fuel pump. Update will follow.

It is good to see your bike with the engine in it. It's really taking shape

Try to get photos of your mate welding them. That would be very interesting to see.

It's time for me to start thinking about a dash. Inspired by yours I will do something very similar.

I love the look of this Dakar Mini dash. I am getting ideas from it to combine with your shape and fitment.

My last dash was very basic. This time I want to excel......

Functional but very basic

And later....... That is realy a very usefull place to have the tacko. You loose a lot of time hitting the rev limmiter. It is in your vision while looking ahead at the road. It makes a huge difference

Yes it's an old rallye from 98-99. I've build in a new 640 engine as the old one was finished...as in really finished! New mikuni flat slide carb and a sxc exhaust and it's pretty much rideable. Clocked 140kmph on gravel yesterday so the old thing still works!

Now we are waiting for a playmate...
