When I decided to build a sidecar for the 950 but my friends and wife call me an idiot for messing up the best bike I've ever owned. I got the side plastic, skid plate, and gas tank off to begin subframe construction. I began to shake and get a queasy feeling. For I realized that I cannot touch this bike.
So, I drove 1,000 miles round trip in a raging snow storm to pick up a V Strom 1,000 for the hack project. It was snowing when I picked it up and did not test ride it. I've never ridden one. I got it home, unloaded it and took it for a 1/2 mile ride around the block. I immediately determined it was a piece of shit and it's nickname came to mind; Vajayjay, or VJ for short. I can't believe anyone actually buys these road bikes.
Fucking KTM has ruined me.

I own 4 BMWs... but my 1 KTM has put more smiles on my dial than all 4 BM's together.

When you have just finished refueling and now starting the bike up and you turn and notice three cars full of young fellas all hanging out their car windows with their phones videoing your bike Startup.

The SE pumps into song and all ya hear is cheers and thumbs up from about 10 young fellas.

you get "that" feeling when turning up at the Bilbao ferry after a week off roading the SE in Spain[1], and pull up next to GS's that seem to have come from the show room they are soooo clean.

You park on main street in Sturgis and you find your bike surrounded the entire time with guys (dressed like Pirates) who are repeating "What is that thing?" or "Who makes KTM?"
