I don't get why you have one then if it's a pavement queen... It's Dakar bike for crying out loud, why is it silly to use it off road? It was intended for that purpose, no? If I had a commuter it would be something for commuting, lol!

Agreed. This past weekend I rode 250 miles to a camping/gravel travel event, did 270+ miles on gravel and "B" roads in Iowa and Wisconsin, and then did 250 miles the next day to get home. The bike does anything I could ask of it.

It's used off road. Just not for super knarly stuff. Would you suggest I get a step thru scooter for commuting?

If you want to take your 950 on this trail, I'll come take pictures

Meh, I would just get something for commuting is all. Your original post made it sound like you looked down on folks who rode their "adventure" bikes like dirt bikes. I have a 450 also, but riding stuff that is tough is much more self-satisfying on big bikes and I love the looks on peoples faces when they notice you have signals and a plate... LOL! I like a challenge is all. Fwiw, I have friends who are less condescending that will take pics of me on trails like that with my 990, . Cheers!

When you have spent 1/3 of what you paid for the bike on maintenance items and a few nice farkles to make it your own.......all before riding it more than the 5 mile test ride.....

When you have learnt most of the bolt torque values, and considering trading the bike for a helicopter because that would still have a better flight to maintenance ratio..

...but then you take her for a ride, and she still gives you that smile she did when the first time you've met:)

( reminds me of my ex )
