I was looking at importing my KTM from Thailand to do a circumnavigation of the island. Interesting to read SV's view. Can't wait to see how this adventure unfolds. Waiting with baited breath.

It was twelve hours a day of spinning in sucking mud, dragging, pushing and gagging for air almost directly on the steaming equator. My hat is off to your team for possessing giant cajones. The question I have for you guys: Would you ever do it again? (I would not)
Hi Glen,

In a word "NO". Why didn't you show me that photo when you were here ?

Just found a few more photos from the briefing

Here's a better map of the route, showing the planned Base Camps for each night.

I think this photo was taken about the time we were told about day 3

I kept a diary on my I-phone. My entry following the briefing was "At the briefing. Hardcore. Day 3 sounds terrifying. Sudden drops of 30 metres hidden by branches and leaves. Shit ! Feeling nervous. Need to get on the bike "

or back to Bali..........

Opening Ceremony at East Kalimantan Police HQ.

Indonesians love pomp & ceremony. Our expedition seemed like a good excuse for the powers that be to have a knees up, so for a couple of hours we are exposed to the whole media circus of journalists & TV crews, cultural performances, dancing police women, speeches from dignataries and sponsors, another meal, karaoke, moto girls , and multiple photo shoots for the sponsors that included Ford Indonesia who had donated 3 vehicles , 2 of which were carrying all of the riders gear, parts, fuel, water & food.

MotoGirls

Dayak Dancers

CHinese (Teochew) dancers - the local Chinese make up 30% of the population in Pontianak

We're joined by the local offroad club to escort us out to the city limits or perhaps to ride with us for a few hours.

Finally we're off !!
